I'm getting an acoustic! (AW1000)

That's right, I'm getting my first acoustic, an Ibanez AW1000. I'm swallowing all my words about korean Ibanezes...the thing is amazing! All solid woods, (mahogany/ engelmann spruce), Fishman electronics, a killer neck, Grover tuners, great detailing (like wooden binding on the entire guitar)...I'm thrilled!

I'll be happy to hear any opinion and advice, since I'm new to acoustics...string choice and humidity/storage recommendations are especially welcome

I have an AW 100CE and I love that thing. I chose that instrument over a Gibson, a Martin, a Taylor and an Ovation. I especially disliked the last two. First off you should get yourself a good sturdy hardshell case and a guitar humidifier. They make a great deal of these. I have one that clips to the guitar strings. Works pretty well. A good rule of thumb is to not expose it to anything you wouldn't enjoy. Extreme cold and Heat are definetly a no-no (like leaving it in the car on a day when the temperature is at a record high/low.) As far as string choice: I have 13s on my artwood and they certainly don't feel like it. If you have the truss rod angled properly you'll get amazing action and playability with the benefit of more volume from heavier strings. Not usually an issue with an electric unless you're really picky. In closing: Korean factories really can put out some impressive instruments out there. The EP7 is also very nice. I'd love to get one of those. Well good luck with the new guitar and enjoy.
