Had a little fun yesterday..........
I know, You guys are thinking "oh great!! another RG550/777 DY clone.....yay

This was kinda fun to do though, and you'll notice the colors would be wrong for a 777DY. My wife calls this the candy guitar, which is fine.............it's the only candy I get...LOL

I added a new B-W-B pickguard (Thanks Jesse!! fits perfectly), Gravity storm hums (Thanks Stephen, I love them!!), Ibanez C2 with a new cover from BanjoMike, New YM-50 and pink tip and knobs from Rich (They look awful red to me though.....LOL) and some new pots and wiring. This was a bunch of fun. I really like the GS pickups, but it's gonna take a while to really dig into and review them.

Wow, that's in amazing shape. My 1st real guitar was a Laser Blue RG550, bought new in 1990 (IIRC). Like a doofus, I sold it in '98 and have regretted it ever since. I love seeing these early 550's... such solid guitars.

It was a sweet guitar to begin with.... but I love the upgrades even more. That's one sick guitar man nice job!!!

Ryc, That is awesome!!!!!!! They are kinda red looking but the contrast is awesome against the yellow!! Curious to what you think of the gravity storms. Looks good man!!!

Thanks man!! The knobs are more pink in person, but they're still very red looking.

I honestly need more time with the GS pickups but my first impression is that they're very similar to the EVO's. They're bright, somewhat angry sounding pups with more high mids and less super high end than EVO's. I know they're supposed to be lower output, but I sure as hell can't tell........... Between the GS's and the maple board they're very unforgiving of bad technique. every mistake is heard, but when you hit a sweet note- man, it REALLY comes out right.

I'd like to see it with yellow pups and knobs, I like colored guitars(hey I love swirls) but in this case, matching yellow parts will look very classy to my eyes

Or at least yellow/red pups to match guitar and knobs.

Lol Understood, I got rid of my first JS2000 (years ago) because of the technique thing you spoke about.

That was my original plan but Sebastian had already done that to his RG350. I didn't want an exact copy of anyone's guitar. When I bought the white based knobs, I thought they would be more shocking pink than red........ I was a little surprised when I got them. They really are more pink than in the pictures....... I just couldn't adjust the pictures to show it. I'm thinking I should try a set from the RG1xxv FP if they're even available??

Sebastians RG350mye: Killer looking guitar IMO.

RYC there's no way to scape of copying somebody's guitar, there are too many out there.
Well the only way is a custom guitar.
