Just a thought, but have you considered buying another RG550 and selling the one you have? I'm not sure how often they come up for sale in Australia, but I see RFR's fairly routinely in the States.

I don't think I'd see many RFRs here, and the used prices are often atrocious. That's the problem.

Although selling one there and enjoying a nice vacation has it benefits as well!!!!!

Yeah. It's a tough one. The neck is absolutely amazing. I'd pull it apart and get a different body if it were not a special anniversary model. That's why I'm so reluctant to sell. I'd better find the right pickup for the guitar quick!

Definitely liking them.... they have a great tone, I just need to play better...........LOL

Consider them a learning tool then. I remember doing that with Jazz IIIs when I first tried them out.

I'm a recent convert to Red Bear picks...definitely recommended. The material they use really helps bring some edge to the tone. Plus, they have the Jazz IIIs as well.

+1 on the Red Bear picks. Got a Classic II Heavy with a bevel that is awesome. The tone is a bit different, a lighter attack brings out a clearer sound, too hard and it has a pluckiness to it.
