Im undecided between the two. I would like to know which one you prefer and the most bang for the buck.

Re: iron label or premiun?

Iron Label is standard Indo while Premiums, I'm guessing, are better quality on average. I think standard Indo quality is fairly good and, IMO, a better value dollar for dollar. The fixed bridge S with the Dimarzios for $700 is probably the best deal I've seen from Ibanez in a while. It makes an old RG guy like me even consider getting an S.
Otherwise I'm willing to bet the same difference in quality between regular Indo and Premiums exist in the Iron Label to Premium comparison.

for metal maybe? but my band plays old school rock n roll acdc's, srv.. but id like the guitar to be fully capable of for metal without a need of a pickup swap and stay in standard tuning..

i see your point. had an s it was very comfortable that it makes the wizard II feels like a wizard I but i cant live with the body shape and the location of the input jack annoys me..
if you you where to pick between the two which one will you choose sir?

Re: iron label or premiun?

I don't think they are standard Premium spec, Ibanez make a point of saying the necks are like the old Wizards in thickness and shape. They are using what they call the Nitro Wizard spec.

See if you can try both out and get what you like. I would personally go premium. Black/white and active pickups bore me.

Re: iron label or premiun?

Iron label sucks! I hated the sound even in the promotional video. Its like putting EMGs in Gios S series also sounds shallow. So, definitely Premium, I have one and I love it!

Re: iron label or premiun?

Not all the Iron Labels have EMGs, half have EMGs, half DiMarzios.

Re: iron label or premiun?

EMG's and the Dimarzio in Iron Label are realy focused around a High gain "metal" tone.

I think you might get a more versatile tone with a Premium. Even more if you can install a split coil system in there.

Specs show the Iron Label RG neck as 1mm thicker.

RGIR20E

a : Width at Nut 43mm
b : Width at Last Fret 58mm
c: Thickness at 1st 19mm
d : Thickness at 12th 21mm
Radius 400mmR

RG920QM

a : Width at Nut 43mm
b : Width at Last Fret 58mm
c: Thickness at 1st 18mm
d : Thickness at 12th 20mm
Radius 400mmR

And the Nitro Wizard has a bubinga stripe vs. the Premium's 5 piece maple/walnut.

Re: iron label or premiun?

Aren't the "old wizard" like some of the prestige?

Only the S's have Dimarzios. All of the RG's are EMG which kind of sucks. They should have had an RG with Dimarzios and one with Seymour Duncans.
Just my opinion.

Totally agree. I totally hate the fact that RGs have to have Active pups as well. I know they wanted to add the killswitch and all but the stuff i want to play (power metal) very rarely uses kill switches (unless its like Melodic Death metal like Arch Enemy, but even then they dont use it that often). Ill stick to my MIJs and and forget about the iron label. I DO want to try it out tho, just to see how it feels.

Re: iron label or premiun?

If I was in the market for a new 6-string and lived in the Philippines I'd be looking at a 520D. Hell I might even import one if I can't shake off this gas.
