Irritating volume knob..

Hi!

I didn't know exactly where to post this so..

well, I have a Ibanez Jem 7dbk, and I love it, (even though I'm not a fan of the FR system), but there's just one thing I really don't like about it (and most Ibanez guitars), the volume knob gets in my way! And I feel it's really disturbing my playing, most when I'm soloing fast, but it makes me miss alot more than on my other guitars where the knob is out of the way..
Does anyone else have this problem? Can I do something to try and prevent this, 'cause I'm thinking of bying myself an rga, but I'm uncertain because of the knob.

well , im guessing you have pretty big hands. i never had that problem with an ibanez *my hands are pretty small tho* as the vol. knobs are relatively quite far from the strings compared to a strat . i've seen a modded ibanez that replaces the tone knob with a volume knob... so basically the vol. is where the tone used to be but there's no tone knob on the guitar . or , if you're good with tools , you could drill another hole to place the vol. pot further away from the strings... but my opinion would be to alter your playing style a little becuz maybe you're just picking too hard , and i think you'd be able to get more speed if you use economy of movement in your picking hand ... just something you could consider :-)

I think I have pretty long fingers heh, but its the three other fingers that's hitting the volume knob, and I'm not that keen on drilling in my dbk
I've tried to alter my way of picking, but I've always fallen back to the way I've always done it, since it's most comfortable to me...

My hands aren't small. They aren't meathooks either, but I don't have any issues with the location of the knob. I think it's a matter of adjusting your playing style .

I used to have the same problem.. over time I got used to it.

However, for a while I just removed the plastic knob which bought me a little space and still enabled me to use the pot. no drilling either and 100% reversable modification

Did you get any problems adjusting the volume when playing outside and otherwise?
