Re: Is Gilbert's own PGM301 a neck-through?
The weird thing is that around 4:38, he very clearly shows the back of the guitar and the old school neck plate is right there, clear as can be. As mentioned, the neck is painted white yes, but there's like no visible seam whatsoever between the neck and the body, which is strange. It makes it look like it was glued on, then sanded and painted afterward, but there wouldn't be a heck of a lot of point to keeping the plate if that were the case. I'm sure it's just an illusion created by the low quality video though.

It's bolt on. There are tons of pics of that axe all over the Internet.
The neck is painted white.

Re: Is Gilbert's own PGM301 a neck-through?
i mean, it's definitely not so difficult for ibanez to make a neck-through guitar with a bulky neck joint, the way Gilbert likes. and again, why are the available guitars - that got in stores - not painted?

but anyway, i am pretty positive that the guitar in the video does not have a seam at the neck joint at all.

you're not seeing it, but it has is. that video quality is too crappy to reveal such a thin line.

It's the same guitar.
AFAIK, PG has only one HSS hardtail white body and neck
PGM
, and it's that one.

Re: Is Gilbert's own PGM301 a neck-through?
is there a site with setup specs for his guitars? i just watched a couple of PG videos, and it sounds like he has strings REALLY close to the fretboard

That's just because of the fact that his hands are so ridiculously huge that they make all other distances seem very small.

Re: Is Gilbert's own PGM301 a neck-through?
I forget where it was, maybe on the old PGM site and possibly on the Racer X forum, but somewhere there was a shot of his living room with like 50 guitars and then closeups of each, and that was about 5 years ago, so think of what he's probably gathered and discarded over the years. In fact, his original "301" was a 300 with the trem filled in.
I guess the point is that Paul has so many guitars from Ibanez, just about any configuration is possible, and it's very likely that there are plenty out there that not everyone has seen.
