Is the RG550 RFR a fluorescent color?

Me and a couple friends are having an argument about this, is the RG550 RFR re-issue a fluo red or is it like the Mick Thomson red(Wich i say is blood red)????

Every pic i see comes out different. I wanna know, i ordered one. I hope it`s a really fluo red color.

Thanks,

Chris

It's not blood red. I'd say (having owned an original) the colour is about 50% bright red, 25% shocking pink, and 25% orange. Very hard to describe, but yeah, fluo red is probably fairly accurate. No camera can catch the real shade, it tends to overload the sensors.

A fairly good representation is below:

The pic on the Ibanez site is COMPLETELY off. It looks like a regular bright red.

You got that right. That`s what i was saying to my friends, the color is off!!! I`ve had an original back in 87, sold it in 90. Bad move but hey!!!!I was young....LOL

I was saying that the Mick guitar was blood red and that the 550 was a fluo red orange. My buds where saying i`m color blind!!!!! They can`t beleive the pics on the Ibanez site are way off.

They`ll see when i get it.

Thanks man...

Re: Is the RG550 RFR a fluorescent color?

No sweat, Chris.

I guess most people who haven't seen the 550RF in the flesh would think Ibanez catalog shots and images on the official website would be accurate, but this has never been true. It's the same with Desert Yellow -- almost impossible to capture in a photograph.

Both finishes look way better in the flesh, you'll probably agree. Gotta love Road Flare. Can't wait to get my new one! Later man.

Here's another shot which looks fairly accurate but still a little too much plain red. When you put it next to the Ibanez site pic you can see a big difference.

Yeah, DY definitely looks VERY different in person. Never seen a RFR in person though.

Yeah, DY is kinda green-ish looking. Highlighter pen is probably quite close. Look in the original catalog shot, though (top left)... kinda bright banana yellow.

I think the strap is nothing special (see pic below), but cool to own, none the less.

This makes me think I actually owned a RFR a long time ago. Got Paul Gilbert to sign it after a jam, he said he had one in the same color. It was traded in, and the next owner left it next to a heater, the pickguard melted, and the guitar turned orange in that area... Still cool!

I think it would look cooler to have the red strap with the DY and the yellow strap with the RFR
