Is the s320 right guitar for me?

I like playing mostly hard rock and metal.

ACDC, metallica, and some old rock like clapton, hendrix etc.

I played the s320 and an szr520.

The s320 sounded really kinda, tinny and muddy. The szr sounded rich and grunty. But the s320 was much nicer neck and nicer body.

But I enjoy sound more than how it feels if that makes sense.

Why do the S guitars sound so much less crunchy, is it just the lack of body or is it the pickups?

I had an rg550 once, that was much gruntier than the s320.

Can anyone really answer this question but you?

I can tell you that the pickups in the S320 are not known as the best around. If you go for the S, maybe try some DiMarzio Paf Pro's. They are great in mahogany, and cover the hard rock/metal stuff no problems.

Another factor in the SZR sounding "rich and gruntier" is the shorter scale neck. Typically 24.75 scale guitars sound a bit "meatier" than 25.5 scale guitars like the S series.

In the end, it's you that will play what you buy, so it's gotta be you who decides.

Hope this helped you make your mind up.

Rock on!

Gah get the S320 and slap some ****ing awesome pickups in it! Replace the pots whilst you're at it, though.
