It's Done. New [to me] RG2550Z

Well, it had to be done, and goddamnit I got it done. Now I'm gonna have to sell my S540LTD, but I never play it. This baby has excellent tone, Hum from Hell in the neck, Fred in the Bridge.

Uhmm, isn't that an Edge Pro, therefore a RG2550E?

Yup, looks like an RG2550EGK - I have the same model and she's beautiful. Changing pickups again so until then no pics

Yeah I think you're right. Sorry! Haven't been following Ibanez' new lines as of late. Yes, the Z stands for Zero trem.

Nice guitar! How do you like the Fred in the bridge and is it a good enough for heavier types of music?

Awesome! Just recently, I've been wanting one of these in galaxy white. Always thought the pickguard was a bronze mirror, but it looks like brushed aluminum (which takes more abuse before it gets marked up, I'd assume).

black, not sure how much, I was planning to throw it on **** and see what it fetches. It has sweet pups in it, hum from hell, lace sensor in the middle, and the famour F3 from a 540PII. And original hardshell case! oh, it's in very nice condition too. some tiny dings but no cracks or chips. the last one on the bay had a huge chip on it and it sold for 450.

Good enough? Yes. Perfect? No. I used to play only metal, and I firmly believe that to do it right, you need that bassy/trebly response high output bridge pickup. The FRED tends to have more mid level nuance, and more nuance in general. It has an acoustic sound to it, very subtle but it's there. I prefer absolute high gain overkill bludgeoning for metal. But since I don't play much metal anymore, and my preamp kicks ass I can make it work, ya know? Hi gain preamp saves mid output pickups in my opinion.
