Re: Japanese RG450 ?

Only RG4xx made before 1994 (1988 - 1993) were available with the EDGE trem and all of them were Japanese.

No it comes with an Lo TRS II, so it's Korean. Are you danish or scandinavian in anyway because of your first name Sřren .

Was there even a RG4xx series before 1993? I just checked the catalogs over at Rich couldn't find any?

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

Now was the RG450 made japan after 1994 (like with the RG470) or did they move the production Korea?

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

If the RG4xx has INF pickups it was made in Korea, if it has V-series pickups it was made in Japan.

Simple, but it's one of the quickest ways to tell(if it's stock). The RG4xx guitars were made in Korea from 94 to around 96-97, then moved back to Japan.

I wasn't aware that any 400 series guitars came with an Edge.

Not in the US market but RG3xx and RG4xx were made in Japan (or at least variations of the RG5xx were called 3xx and 4xx) from 1987 - 1993.
The RG4xx had 24 frets and came with Edges, the RG3xx had TRS and 22 fret necks.

Japanese 1990 catalog with RG3xx.

Yeah, 'cause I had a 1994 RG 450 DX and it was made in Korea. I got rid of it quick.

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

How was the RG550 different from the pre-94 450 then? Both had 24 frets, V pickups, edge trem...?

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

The MIJ RG450 didn't have V pickups, some other crappier ones. It did have an Edge though, and rosewood fretboard instead of maple. A friend of mine has one and it's the best RG for the money. Replace the pups and you're good to go.

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

Hi, I am new here but been lurking around a lot. Anyway, this is an interesting topic. I think I can help clear some misconception about the RG4xx series.

The RG4xx are actually MIJ during the late 90's to early 21st century. They are pretty much like the RG5xx series. Only differences are the neck (wizard II), trem(TRS1) and the input jack (square).

They also usually come with fancier colour and inlays.

They are pretty good guitars, the TRS trem is the only drawback.

Then in 2003, the RG4xx series got upgraded. They kinda took the place of the RG5xx. Still same configuration like the previous RG4xx series, V series pickups, Wizard II neck, the square input jack and the Edge Pro bridge. No kidding, not Edge Pro II but Edge Pro.

That makes it the only non Prestige RG line with the top of the line bridge.

To prove it, here is a pic of mine. RG450LTD MIJ with the Edge Pro bridge. I think they are only available in the year 2003 in Asia.

Re: Japanese RG450 ?

Hi, I own one RG450 from -91 if I remember correct. It has a rosewood fretboard and a pick guard. It also has a Wizard neck. Yup, it´s a wizard not a wizard II. I don´t know which PUs it had stock ´cause they were already changed to DMs before I bought it.

I also have an RG470 from 2003. It´s a limited run RG470FM and it has an Edge Pro bridge. If I remember correct the regular RG470s have an Edge Pro II. Here´s a pic of it:
