john 5 project ax
i might get a lot of **** for this but i'm a huge john 5 fan and loved his work with manson. especially the holywood era. i want to re-create his custom ax that he had, the black one with the three era's of manson logos on it. i've got a few close ups as it was on **** a year ago or so but i really don't know where to start. i would love anyone's input or feedback on this. basically i looked the ibanez registry and the only ax i found with a floyd on it was the ax 320t. it has a lo-trs II on it which means it would have to be routed out for a better bridge (i.e. an edge as i know that john wouldn't use anything less). i'm making a good guess that the pickups are dimarzio as they don't say seymour on em, nor any ibanez markings and are in a
custom ibanez
. i'd love to know what kind they are (or seem to be). as well i would need to refinish the 320t if i ever find one to black and then get the whole red logo's on there. really i'd love anyone's help on this that i can get. first off would be a cheap ax320t.

Re: john 5 project ax
so far i've figured that i need
4 black dome knobs
cosmo lo
pro edge trem
i believe a tone zone dimarzio in the bridge (only high output dimarzio makes with the flat head pole pieces)
black
dimarzio strap
locks (got a few of those now)
cosmo pickup rings
i'm kinda clueless on the neck pup, how to actually refinish the guitar to look like this (including the logos), exactly what the routing is for a lo-trsII to lo pro edge change, and any other nuances any of you might come across

yup, im not a fan of the body style at all.. And its ok looking. Dont take that the wrong way thats just my opinion.
But I agree some people will love it, and some will hate it.. I personally give anyone credit for trying to do something to there guitars to make them your own.
Is the project finished body wise? is that it?

Re: john 5 project ax
no i'm just looking really for suggestions on where to find a body like this as there is one model i've found that has a floyd on it. as well though it has a
super wizard neck
which is f*ing odd as i know that isn't stock on the ax series. did they make any ax's with a super wizard on it? as well i'm kinda curious of any place where i can have these stickers made. kinda evaluating the damage that my bank account will recieve by finding out how to actually do this. i've got a friend i think who could re paint it if i can find the guitar it's just the decals then and the trem ( i also have a friend who can rout) but has any one put a edge on one of these, i'm guessing not so i'm curious if there are any pointers to customizing a unique guitar.

Re: john 5 project ax
other question would be would it be easier to just get a real cheap one and route the damn thing out for a floyd rather than hunt down one model made for one damn year. argh. how would one convert a tune-o-matic to a floyd where do you route and what not

Re: john 5 project ax
oh so thats not yours thats John 5's
gotcha..
Stickers would probably be the problem but most decal companys will make them for you if you have a template.
As for converting a tailpiece to floyd try
