If your going to **** with a guitar's body at least make sure it's a relatively common production model. He could of just as easily done that with a cheap $150 Ibanez off of e bay.
He could have done that with a $150 guitar, but a $150 guitar wont play, sound or feel like his guitar.

Re: JPM-P1 murder

did anyone see the condition of the guitar BEFORE the work?

If it was a player condition P1 this guy might have just wanted something in new condtion to play.

What I meant to imply is that he could have done it to one of his many other guitars. I'm sure that he has more than one 'good' guitar that he could 'modify'.

It's the same has a guy hacking into a 52' Les Paul cutaway and painting with flames. You could say "well it's his guitar. He can do whatever he want's with it" but the point still remains that he hacked apart a 52' Les Paul.

Its AWESOME!!!!!!

The dude is smart. Take an amazing, well built, and high quality guitar and re-paint it.
Yknow, some people take really cheap Ibanez models and paint them... lol whats the point? It still wont play as good as a Jap Ibanez. This dude is smart at least.

As a long time Petrucci fan, I cringe at the sight of that.

Re: JPM-P1 murder

the new colour choices look better then original, imo
in his place, i would sell the guitar in original condition, and wouldn't re-finish it due to purely financial reasons.

Re: JPM-P1 murder

Why?!? I always thought that the black-on-white 7-string was JP's best looking Ibanez, but man, if you're going to recreate the paint job, do it with an RG or something. There's no need to ruin a P1 like that.
