Just bought a new guitar online....

So, anyway... I just did a little impulse buying here. I've been looking for a cheap but decent guitar to have as a back up or maybe I'll make my main one. It's a Ibanez RG350dx... The black and chrome one. Now, The problem here is that it's used and I have never seen it before. I've talked to two different associates at the store in Georgia and they both said the same that with a decent cleaning and setup it'll play like new.

The guy said that trem works fine but it doesn't really flutter or do any of the "vai" like tricks but I think that's from the setup. I've seen how GC takes care of their FR guitars.

There's no paint chips or cracks on the guitar as I can tell from the pictures. The pickguard is deft. worn down since it was changing from chrome to black... Now, I've found cheap replacements on the bay for around 10 dollars.... So, that won't be a problem.

I'm just hoping that I'm not getting into a bad situation here.. Like spending more money than the guitar to fix it up. The guitar only costs 159 dollars.... I accidentally said yes to he warranty plan but I'm thinking of calling them tomorrow to get my money back on that. Since, I'm planning on customizing the guitar....

So, what do you guys think? Did I just make a mistake here? Like I said I have a 30 day return police so I hope they stick to that.

I'm getting a 100 dollar rebate for my phone from Verizon Wireless so I will be putting that towards the guitar. If take the warranty off since I won't need it... It'll bring my grand total down to $82.00 so I guess for a 350 that's not bad at all...

Congratz on the guitar mate. I've always liked (but never owned) those 350's. The trem is their weak point. Most guys don't like those Edge III's. However I know some that do. Are modifications to the guitar on the cards?

It's a great middle of the road RG for a net price of 82 bucks. Haha, if the thing comes to you in pieces I think it's worth the price. Just give it a good set up when you receive it and you'll be good to go.

For that kind of money, you can't be wrong..and i gues you can always sell it to, at least, refund the money you've invested..
Concerning the Edge III, it doesn't have to be bad..i have tried some who worked great, some just ok..its more of a setup thing at most of the cases..
just take it easy and enjoy!

Just to clarify, it doesn't really have a chrome pickguard, it's just silver-like coloured. But I do think it's a good buy, I have one, and while it's nowhere as good as my prestige it is still a very playable guitar.

i just got one exactly like it. it's being set up right now, so i'll let ya know how it turns out. i really like the pickguard......a metal look,but not as flashy as chrome.

funny story. The first time I've ever seen these guitars in the store when I was noob. I always thought they were a new steve vai guitar. lol Now, I'm slightly older i know now what they were.


yep, I found a guy on the bay who is selling some pickguards dirt cheap thanks to a fellow member. I'm buying a straight 1 ply black style pickguard for it or i'm thinking of a gold mirror. I should get this guitar on Thursday.

I got my guitar today. It's an alright shape. A little rough but with some cleaning it should be good. The pickguard is worn down and changing colors but I'm going to be switching that. The pickups have been replaced to a emg h4 in the bridge and esp pickups in the neck and middle. So, electronics are fine. Tremolo is pretty dirty and hopefully I won't have to replace it till next year. If so, I'm going to get a floyd special to replace. Hopefully, I'll get some pics up here tomorrow for ya all.
