Just bought an Ibanez....can anyone help me identify it ?

Ok
First i'd like to introduce myself cause' I haven't posted very many messages before , hi , I'm Anton
Anyway....

I bought an "RG550EX" from ebay , payed 260 english pounds , which was a good price because it was described immaculate.
I got it on tuesday.... I then noticed it had "Low Trs Trem" wrote on the bridge...i wasn't happy. The guitar is fairly similiar to the 550ex , but it definitely isn't one... the scratch plate is chrome , mirror. The 550ex is grey , and a few other things like volume and tone controls etc , they are plastic , were as the 550ex's are steel.... these could of been changed though. But at the moment I'm un sure what guitar I have just bought!... I can't see any model numbers on the headstock , only "RG Series" , and can't be bothered to take the neck off and look for the stamp because these are brand new strings ....Anyway , I hope some of you can help me , I haven't seen this color scheme before though...anyway here are some pictures ( bad quality due to a sh*t comp and a dodgy web cam )

About the pictures

Soz guys , forgot to mention , the pictures above can't be linked through a site ... they need to be typed into a browser manually for some crazy reason , so copy and paste them or whatever takes your fancy

go to www.ibanezrules.com and there a section with a whole bunch of catalogs, you should be able to find it in there. my guess is an rg 450dx or 350dx

I'm afraid I can't really make out much detail in the pics to help tie it down

If you can spot it in the catalogues on Rich's site which Stratman219 mentions you may have grounds to send it back for fraud type stuff, I'm really not sure. Tha direct link to the catalogues is HERE.

If you DO decide to think about getting it sent back cos it's not what it said it is, post another new thread in the "Buyer/REseller and Auction" area and there'll no doubt be some one who can offer advice.

Hmm apart from the trem, that really looks like a 550ex.. does it look like the trem has been swapped?? then the trem cavity would look odd compared to the trem shape. Hmm.. but it seems you have been screwed. If he stated it was a 550, you have the right to receive a 550.

go to the tech section and read about removing the trem without removing the strings, then, remove the trem, pop off the neck, and you should be able to find out. Then you can put it all back together and not waste your strings

As far as i know, 550EXs dont have mirror pickguards. Having played and seen one at the music store, ('01 and '02 model) i would guess that thats not a 550EX.

The pickguard on the 550EX looks more like some sort of brushed aluminium one with a transparent color coat on top (yes i know i suck at describing things!)

Is there a skunk stripe on teh back of the neck? the 2 550EX's ive played (with the super wizard neck) had a bubinga strip on the back of the neck.

And while you're at it, get a better camera. I could take better pics with my penis.

:/

Damn , my initial thoughs were good about the guitar , so i left him some nice feedback , wish I could undo the fooker , shi*t happens though .

I might consider selling it on once i've played on it for a while , and advertise it as a " Japanese Ibanez RG " , say its mint with a floyd rose , but abit unsure about the model :P , always a couple of dumb people around... , It's abit nasty I suppose

The guitar is a RG450ex.

I know 'cause I got the exact same guitar myself.
