Just for the conversation...
Hey all...........
Just a curious question for the sake of conversation..........
There is alot of mass reproduction out there of Ibanez. Whats Ibanez take on that? I dont mean the "chibanez".........Im talking about alot of reputable people out there building after market parts that are identical to ibanez. Is ibanez flattered and doesnt care?..........offended? Personally.........Ill never play anything again that isnt Ibanez........even if it is pieced together with custom parts, I still want it to proudly bare the name Ibanez. Just curious what "they" think.

Re: Just for the conversation...
How could any of us know what "they" think?
For what is worth, once you try a good custom made guitar, you ll change your mind about what you said. I still play and buy
Ibanez guitars
(this weekend I bought an FGM300), but I also love custom made guitars.
I dont think Ibanez is too worried about small custom shops making guitars they wont do anymore (swirl jems and the like). In any case, none of this custom shops is using the ibanez logo or name

Yeah, Ibanez don't really have to worry about these small-time guitar builders. They don't really threaten Ibanez's business, do they?

Re: Just for the conversation...
customs can be anything you want and far exceed the quality of standard production guitars.
i'm sure Ibanez appreciates your loyalty but until you get to try some of these customs (like mine) it'd be hard to compare the two.
i thought Ibanez was a stickler about
headstock shape
but i guess they have more important things to worry about, like finding out how info has leaked from dealers about new products before their time

Re: Just for the conversation...
Like I said............this was just for the sake of conversation
Ive had a few customs, and a few straight up stock Universe's when they first hit the market. Just my own goofy opinion...........its all in the set up. Customs/factory play & sound the same depending on how theyre set up. Of course, Im not talking about pick-ups. I think we all have gone thru a variety of those trying to define ourselves in the guitar world. My whole point was the the basic blatent repo of the Jem & Universe bodies & features, head stock shape, so forth.................
It makes no difference to me. I think the Jem & UV designs are simply the ultimate in a guitar shape and feel. Tone?...........well.........like I said, we've all been thru plenty of pick-ups, strings, amps..........etc.
Anyway...........thanx for reading & commenting. It gave me something to read while I was here at work.............wanting to be home playing.
Laterz..............................~Ranz~

Re: Just for the conversation...
I don't believe Ibanez gets too upset about folks getting replacement parts for guitars they already own. I had contacted
Jim Donahue
about making me a replacement body for a 7620, and he said it was no problem as long as I had one already and was just replacing it or swapping it out. He wouldn't make one for you to just build a new guitar from, though.

Why? As much as I LOVE Ibanez guitars, they certainly aren't the "be all, end all" of guitars. Admittedly, I'm as much of a Jackson fanatic as I am an Ibanhead.
Just curious what it is about Ibanezes that makes you never want to play another guitar?

I'm confused. Ibanez makes replacement bodies?
