Question

Lane's Custom S

Any buddy have pictures of Shawn Lane's custom s? I saw it in a magazine. It had a lopro in gold and direct mount white or cream pickups (hard to tell) and get this: 24 frets!!!!!

Re: Lane's Custom S

Looks like the lower horn is moved into the body a little bit to give access to those extra frets... nice..

Unfortunate side effect of the thin body, the switch just barely fits in the guitar, and only because it's mounted through the top like that. You're also stuck with a similar size switch, because nothing else will fit.

Hell, the S body is so small you can't even get a block-lock on the edge trem without it hitting the back-plate on pull-ups. Scary.

I am not 100% sure, but I am pretty sure it was of a lung problem. He was quite overweight towards the end of his career too, which never helped with his health. But I heard he was hospitalised for the last few weeks of his life with a severe lung problem. He was an AWESOME player though. Some of the stretches and stuff he did, he could shred with the best of em. Shame he wasnt as recognised as he should have been really.

There is this awesome interview and lesson with him on this site:-
http://www.richardhallebeek.com/
Go under the "Interviews" section and click on Shawn Lane. This was just before he passed away too. Brilliant stuff in that lesson too.

Re: Lane's Custom S

He had a chronical illness or something for a lot of years. The weight was not the main problem. He had artritis, or something. He was a very talented player, and a very special person.
Check out www.noproblemhere.com
The site ruled by friends, and his family is in too. A very special forum and page with rare tracks, interviews and more. When you go deep in Shawn´s music and life, you will understand why Shawn was so loved.

Re: Lane's Custom S

He died of a lung failure, but he had major health issues at the end of his career, and yes arthritis was also a problem. And yes, please visit the Shawn/sites forums - a lot of interesting things to be learned there...

Tarsun.net and this forum are also great resources...
