Lo-trs and Lo-trs II?

Whats the difference between the Lo-trs and Lo-trs II trems?

I don't see any differences when looking at them in pictures.

Does one perform better than the other or sumthing?

Plenty of info on these. Do a forum search. The design is slightly different. Both suck

The TRS is supposedly a bit better, though.

Check in the archived threads forum, it's in there! I never think to check there either though.

Basically the Lo TRS is made of harder metal, has a screw in bar, and a bigger sustain block. And is used on mid-level Japaneise guitars. The TRS II is used on the high end Korean models. It's got a pop in bar like the Edge, but it has a tendency to wobble over time.

My advice is to avoid both. For some reason my NEW RG470 with a TRS refuses to hold the strings in the blocks during anything more than a half step bend. And when I took the bridge off the guitar to try to see what the problem was inside the blocks (I ended up sanded down the blocks , and that didnt work either) I couldn't find anything wrong with it. But the knife edges looked awful, and this is with the harder metal on the normal TRS. Just get an Edge model. Please.

But the TRS is better, and it seems like it works reasonably well for most people. Im the only one who ever has a problem with it! I also think that TRS'es that work correctly get a really bad reputation from the TRS II.

But then again I was banking on that, and mine turned out to be an utter piece of CRAP. That guitar is useless until I can get an OFR or Edge on it.

I've had to get used to a LO TRS 7 on my RG7420 for about three months now. I'm endlessly frustrated with the way the bar attaches to the body (it's too high and the tension changes constantly no matter how you set it), but as far as tuning stability goes, I have no complaints. It doesn't sound as resonant as an Edge, but the sustain holds up quite well. This guitar is tiding me over well until I get my own line of signature model Ibanezes some time soon

The lo trs II on PGM30 seem's ok to me though. But tuning might be a little problem to get it stabelized.

I just got an RG320 to brutalise and Jemify and it has a LO TRS II. It's vastly different to the LO TRS 7. It holds its tuning very well but the fine tuners are stiff, as is the bar when doing divebombs (however, it flutters better than any Edge I've played but that's probably due to the setup not construction).

It reminds me of original Floyds, which always seemed to give too much resistance on divebombs.

RG470 with a Low TRS II. It's a screw in job, with NO collar. Comparing it to the Edge trem on my older 550, the edge trem feels a little less 'clunky'. I personally like the screw in TRS, but I agree that my other floyd replicas with the screw on collar BITE.

If you balance both trems properly, the screw in TRS and the edge should feel similar, but the collar-ed TRS always sits too high, and just annoys me when I'm going for the volume knob.

Former Lo-TRS user here (on RG470)

Compared to the OFR i put in, its less resonant, basically bled out the tone. Mine didnt have any of dirtybird's problems, but basically, after 7-8 months of heavy use, the knife edges, were pretty damn blunt. Was plagued with double-neutral, failing completely to return to neutral, etc.

Dont get me started on the Lo-TRS posts - they are simply too small in diameter to work properly with the TRS, which causes all the terible knife edge wear. Wore down an OFR knife edge wiht a week of pretty heavy use too! (and hte OFR was NEW!!! )

OFR was a mcuh smootehr operating trem. Still has a slight double neutrla problem, but thats thanks to the knife edge, which im working at with the files. Much better tone and sustain.

The Lo-TRS II actually has posts which are of a more sensible diameter. Ibanez screwed up bigtime with the Lo-TRS system.
