Re: LO-TRS-TREM(what is it)

the Lo trs trems are a trem system which are made from cheaper metals to put on the lower end ibanez guitars although in some cases they are put on lower end signature models like the jem555

Re: LO-TRS-TREM(what is it)

If you're looking at a 555, I would STRONGLY suggest an RG 550/570/1550/1570 instead. The 555 is Korean made and comes with a crappy trem. The RG 5XX's are Japanese made (Fujigen factory) and come with Edge family trems. They are closer to a JEM than the 555.

Unless you REALLY REALLY need a monkey grip and a half floral vine inlay...

Re: LO-TRS-TREM(what is it)

LO-TRS is a LO-TRS, not an Edge Pro or Edge III, etc.

Do not confuse a LO-TRS with a LO-TRS II. A LO-TRS typically came on Japanese guitars, and is far better than a LO-TRS II (Korean guitars). Not quite as nice as a Edge/Lo Pro Edge/Edge Pro, but still quite a reasonable trem.

Re: LO-TRS-TREM(what is it)

I used one on a JS100 for a few years with a Lo-TRS2. It's not horrid but it certainly is the worst trem Ibanez has put on a guitar. I'm good with Edge 3 too but I think people who like Edge 3 are the exception. Most people hate both trems.
I'd agree with Doink, though, in saying you might want to look at a MIJ guitar with an Edge, Lo-Pro Edge, or Edge Pro. With the Jem555, you're really just paying for the monkey grip.

Re: LO-TRS-TREM(what is it)

I might become wildly unpopular for saying this here, but an inexpensive option would be to get a late-model RG570 or RG550 (preferably with the bubinga super wizard )and get an aftermarket Jem body off the internets. You can probably get the RG online for about $400 or less. And say you get a prefinished body from a high-end vendor, you might spend as much as $400 or so. So for $800 and a little elbow grease you could get a sweet instrument with the much-coveted lions claw and monkey grip. Cheaper unfinished bodies can run from $100-200.
Good luck!
