Locking nut problem

Ok I have an Ibanez RG320FM with an Edge Pro III system and I'm having a problem screwing a screw into the nut. The pad for the E and A string can't be held tight because the threading in the hole is stuffed so the screw won't screw into the hole properly. Ok, if you've managed to keep up....What are my options? The only one I can come to is I need a new nut, but that's going to cost something that I don't have right now and I don't want to end up getting the wrong one or something if I ship it from America.

So, any help?!?!

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: Probably shouldv'e made this in the Toolbox....

Re: Locking nut problem

Check out Rich at Ibanez Rules for that part or your local store. You can retrofit an R3 or R4 flyd nut but i am not sure if it is a direct fit with the top lok. But yeah sounds like new nut time.

Re: Locking nut problem

It can be helicoiled, or replaced. I have the nuts in stock, or you can find somebody local that has a M4 helicoil kit.

Re: Locking nut problem

it might just be the slightly wrong allen key size. is it the one you got with the guitar?
i had a smilar problem with my s470 but it turned out just to be a very slightly too thin allen key.

Re: Locking nut problem

Sorry for the very, very late reply, I totally forgot about this and have been busy with Uni, and my nut is still fooked.

It's the one that came with the guitar, and I've tried screwing it in without the pad and it just drops into the hole a few mil which means it can't get enough grip with the pad to screw in.

Funnily enough I made a tap a few weeks ago as a prac in my course, but won't that make the hole bigger? Oh and I would buy them off you but $60 US is way to much to spend on a nut.

There are some going on **** for like $10-20 that are bottom mounting and 43mm, but I'm not sure if they'd fit. And what's R3 and R4?

Thanks for the help guys.
