Question

Looks like a RG570 but reverse headstock???

An RG has come up for sale and I'm no Ibanez expert so need some help fellas.

I've seen and played RG570's before but this one has a lot of features unlike any I've seen. The serial number suggests it's from 1995, other specs:

1. Reverse headstock (this is the most puzzling)

2. Cosmo edge trem, HSH V7/V8 pickups "without" pickup rings

3. White body with AANJ

4. Rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth inlays

Any idea what model this could be - I could not find it in the 95-96 US/EU catalogs.

Here are some pics - http://img53.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=277182747.jpg

Thanks!

That looks like an RGR480. Jap market only model. It has a Resoncast body. Have you got the serial number?

Serial F514037, MIJ. Couldn't dig up any other details - current owner has no clue either. I never wanted a 570 because the ones that come up for sale were gray or dark colored, but I like this guitar whatever model it is.

1995 model. A 1995 RGR480 would have an alder body. I think the '98 model qwas made of resoncast which is crap. The only other thing I can think oif that it might be is an RGR470.

Good luck with it mate. Best to find out what the body is made of first before you buy. Some of the '95 models may have been resoncast as well.

Re: Looks like a RG570 but reverse headstock???

well maybe its a newer body with a 1995 fret board and head stock. in 1995 was the only year they made rg570's for left handers. it could be a fret board of a left hand rg570 slapped onto a right hand body. so its reverse head stock. i think thats awsome reverse head stocks are so nice and easier i feel to tune when in the middle of playing. to bad a guitar with that type of bridge probably will never take the benefit of that as it probably will never go near out of tune while playing ever but still looks mad cool. hope it sound good too.

Re: Looks like a RG570 but reverse headstock???

i can say one thing that body barely looks like an rg570 body at all from 1995 as i own one from then. but maybe the newer ones look like that. the shape of the top of the body on the 95s dont bevel any where near the pickup switch at all it cuts in but has now rounding out or bevel on the body on the top. i dont know if thats just the way you took the picture or if your body bevels in. i cant tell but if it does bevel in i am lost. if it does not and is just cut in with no bevel then its an rg570 body from who knows what year thats a right hand guitar with a left hand fret board. i just checked all the non prestige left hand fret boards that have been made from 95 to now look just like that with the logo like that. so thats got to be a left hand fret board on a right hand guitar.

It's a right handed reverse headstock neck, just look at the Ibanez logo and the Rg Series logo as well. If it were a left handed fretboard then the sharktooths would be the other way around as well.

Re: Looks like a RG570 but reverse headstock???

after further research the only one that looks like yours at stock is a japanes version only in japanese called the rgr 580. the weird part is it does not have v7 s1 v8 pickup it uses ibz v6f in the neck middle is ibz rts and bridge is v6f again. everything else about it looks to be the closest i can find. i think this was only sold in japan though. its a mohagony wood according to what i can find but also most rgr 580's are bought as a j custom so the chance of it having some differences and being a little customized is very possible but still it probably if it was to be placed under a model thats the best i can find.

there are also some rgr 570's but i cant figure anything out about them and they have rings on there pickups too. the weird thing about yours is the fret board is not the same wood material as a rgr 580's so i think i am getting in the right area but cant nail it.
