Making my S540 a little brighter??
What can I do?
I'm not that familiar with the electronics of Ibanez guitars, so I'm not sure if a pot value change or a tone cap change would work. Stock IBXUSA pups. Like I said...just looking to brighten the guitar up a little bit. Thanks!

If you have a 250k rated pot you could try a 500k

chances are that it is 500k if it is factory. 1meg ohm wouldn't be a bad idea for that, i'd just go with a pickup swap, personally.

Try adjusting your pickup heights first. Thats free and it may help.

Bypass the tone pot, if you're not using the tone control, it'll get brighter and IMO better tone.

Or throw a Fender No-Load tone control in, it works like a normal tone knob from 0-9 but at 10 it takes itself out of the circuit so its like there is no tone control.

I didn't know fender did this! I've thought for some time about scraping the carbon from the tone pot at the full clockwise position, effectively taking the tone control out of circuit.
Only problem is you'd have to take the tone pot to bits!
The trouble with using the fender pot is it's only 250k from what I've seen (although that doesn't matter when it's switched out!)

Never heard of this. Curious to hear the difference in tone. A clip would be nice.
