Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
I believe the the Ibanez book the RG came from "roadstar guitars", I could be wrong. It's been awhile since I read that.

Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
My GUESSES:
RG = Roadstar or Rock Guitar
GRG = Good Rock Guitar
S = Slim (low carb bread, no mayo)
SZ = Slim with extra meat (the z in a to z, more massive body)
SA = Slim with no meat (the a in a to z so you're getting less body)
X = X Treme
GAX = This is the sound you make after you play one.
JTK = Jet King
IC = Ice Man
AR = Artist
AF = Artcore Full-Hollow
AK/AG = Artcore somethingoranother
AFS = Artcre Full-Hollow w/Stupid Vibrato
AGS = Artcore Guitar Slim (it is skinnier than its brothers)
AS = Artcore Semi-Acoustic
AWD = All wheel drive

On Ibanezregister, go to the old gallery, and the subsequently to 'The guitars'. There are a lot of names there.

Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
RG - Rock Guitar or Roadstar Guitar
GRG - Gio RG
S - Saber
SZ - Not sure on this, bet is has something to do with the S or a Strat though.
SA - Saber Arch? These are an S with a flat back.
X - Well, there was an X-series back in the 80's. Possible X-treme. lol
GAX - Gio AX. AX is probably "Artist X-treme". lol
JTK- Jetking
IC - Iceman

Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
RG = Roadstar Guitar. Not Rock Guitar. They wanted something similar to Gibson's "SG" name. Rich Lasner confirms this in his interview on Nuno's site. Good interview, everyone here should read it.
SZ = this was developed from the S (Saber). I don't know what the Z is for.
Just to add another: EX = Experimental.

Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
No worries. Most people seem to think it's "Rock Guitar", this question comes up about 300 times a week on the official Ibanez forums.
OK, I exaggerated a little bit.

Re: Meanings of RG,S,SZ,...
I always thought that they called it simply RG to take the place of both the Roadster and the Roadstar Guitars. But what the hell do I know??
