The K7 would have been a great guitar... Just take of the inlay and they would sell pretty well. People are always after different wood bodies.

Though i agree the Mick Thompson guitar may link in with the K7. If they make it an affordable guitar around £500-700odd, it'd be fine. Much like the Zakk Wylde Epiphones it'd probably have EMG-HZ's, but ya can't have it all aye
Well stated. However, I don't see why Ibanez is even coming out with this guitar or the reason they havn't discontinued the k7.

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

K7 looked like an attempt to cash in on the 7 string fad and it turned into a bust...personally the K7 is a perverbial white elephant with its over priced features and its even more over priced look.....I've tried the K7....all I can say is give bring back the RG7420's and the S7420's!!!!

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

I'm not sure but I can't see Ibanez making the same mistake twice. Chances are if that model is released there will be a different inlay, and its very likely they'd make some cutbacks on hardware/eletronics (and maybe even wood) to appeal to the teenage market.

I agree...hopefully something will float to the surface as soon as NAMM on the 19th of the month....even if its' a plain RG hard tail with some of the same charicteristics

Heres hoping yeah!
I already have my money here and waiting. I am just hoping that something is announced at NAMM! Like I keep saying, not only am I going crazy over this because it is kinda my perfect guitar (fixed bridge, reverse headstock, EMG's), but I am also a huge Slipknot fan too.
But heres hoping that something is announced, fingers crossed.

My Co-Guitarist is drooling at the mere mention of a Mick Signature model (grabs mop and bucket)...personally a restyle on the RG 321 would blow my skirt up!!

on a side note...is there a NAMM 2006 thread??

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

Hmm...

After looking at the specs of the guitar, I'm just wondering how much it will actually cost. I mean, it's got a freakin' Wizard II neck. It's NOT even a Prestige guitar and from the picture it looks rather cheap. But I think that this guitar could sell very well if it is priced under $1000. It does have REAL EMG pickups, a mahogany body, and a reverse headstock. The success of this guitar will hinge on the selling price, IMO.

I'd expect in store pricing around $1300.

Thats the bad point for me obviously!
Although at $1300, thats about 740GBP converted. Which isnt too bad I suppose, thats do-able. Even with all the customs charges on top.

Seems reasonable compared to the PGM.

1300 is better than our often loathed K7

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

the mick signature comes with an awesome universe style case:

that just looks damn sexy, i guess that kinda justify's the price, well not totally but partially!

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

Well, let's think about it equitably. This guitar is basically just a more suped-up version of the RGT42 (wizard II-neck thru, mahogany body, H-H pickup config) but with a Fixed Edge bridge and EMG pickups. If it comes with that case at no additional charge then MAYBE $1300 isn't too bad. Of course, my question is just WHERE is the guitar made? I don't see the word "Prestige" written anywhere on the specs which leads me to believe that it is just another MIK signature model.
