Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

I think the production guitar falls flat on it's face in the above pic when you compare it to the one Mick Thompson is holding in picture.

Massively overpriced for a Korean guitar. Even without discussing the ugly inlay that guitar is not worth half what they want for it.

Couldnt agree more.
I dont think we'll be seeing Mick playing the production model anytime soon, unless he uses it as a beater on stage. And dont get me wrong - I love Mick as a player/personallity, but the production guitar isnt really in the same league is it?

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

I never expected it to be in the same league because Ibanez is just cheap. Mick may have very well wanted them to copy the exact specs of his guitar and make it a Prestige but Ibanez wouldn't have it. Also, if they HAD copied the exact specs then you would be looking at a $2000 guitar easy. Personally, I would rather have that 24 fret S guitar that he uses.

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

The guitar mick uses is great only for that it uses that bridge

I would prefer a tremolo

but then Ibanez f*cked everything up

This guitar is not on my want list

but from Ibanez's perspective, I think that a lot of slipknot fans would want one because they are wannabes

what about jim roots charvel, that's hot!!

read WHAT exactly? lol, all i've seen are the catalog pics with japanese writing over the specs. kinda hard to read that. ok, so this guitar goes up a notch.... this puts it at notch 1. though i still believe ibanez droped the ball on this. ok so its got good pickups? so does the jem 555. but i wouldn't pay 1700 for it.

now if ibanez made a buz model RGA7 like the one at namm, then that could justify $1700.

Good Point.
But thats just a pipe dream at the moment, at most. So its not even worth thinking of it in that way.
And we all know full well, that if Ibanez DID make an RGA7 like Buz's, they would probably charge double the $1700 of the Mick model.

+1 Now you're talking. A nice new high quality 7-string, period.

that`d be nice, side dots are cool.... well i still plan to get it, i need a non black guitar for once and a fixed bridge guitar, and i like my RGT so i imagen this being as good if not better, i can always lift the fretboard and replace it with a nice ebony board with side dots...

i dont know what it is about this guitar but it just does it for me, crap inlay or not, it reminds me of a souped up PGM, but its bound to get a negative responce because of its slipknot association and inlay which puts more emphasis on this like the k7... but, ho hum, i guess you like what you like.

There are side markers but they are not dots. They are like the older ESP's. If you remember those...

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

also.. it does seem to have a binding. you can't see it here but when i went to rich's site it looks like a really thin black binding. but it says the LIST price is 1700 odd somethin. hopfully these don't go over 1200 on the street. if they go for about a grand (more or less) then they will be fine, but if they push it for over 1200 i think its gonna be a K7 all over again...

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez

Yeah, I noticed the black binding when I looked at the pictures on Rich's website. It still seems like a really cool idea for a guitar, but I'll wait a few years and pick one up used so that I will be able to afford to modify the fretboard.
