Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez
I want to see a pic of the back of the guitar, a full one.. anyone have one? and if any of yall get one, be sure to post some pics eh? lol.. i will be ordering one, but not until summer/fall tho so in the mean time.. ha.. i think the guitar will be good, and i like the fact that they matched his specs of his customs to his signature and thats great. but price could be maybe just a little lower.

But they didn't match his specs exactly which is why people are debating on whether or not to get the guitar. First of all, the guitar is Korean made. Now, I have seen some pretty good axes from Korea but since the guitar doesn't have Prestige written anywhere on it you have to wonder about the quality. Also, the fretboard is made out of rosewood instead of Ebony and the guitar has a Wizard II-thru neck instead of a
Wizard Prestige
-thru neck.

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez
he has the steve vai
jem neck profile
on his actual
custom shop guitar
, he said so in an interview with total guitar (uk) a year ago.
btw, they should have released the black one instead of the red one!

i would rather have that a 24 fret s to, but they would prolly f*ck it up to be makeing it in korea

i understand that as far as quality.. but thats what a signature is, its a 'cheaper' version of the guitars they actually use on stage, most signatures arent the guitars the players use onstage (other than the K7.. altho not anymore, and steve even uses his jems and uv's).. and the fact that micks sig looks almost (thats the key word) identical to his customs onstage, i think its pretty good.. at least its a neck-thru and they have the active emg's.. as lyconxero said, if they matched micks specs exactly, the guitar would be over 2 grand most likely. price wise, i think it could be less but since its a "signature" the price goes higher

Well, since all the other S guitars are made in Korea then I don't really see that as being a problem. The only reason why I mentioned the 24 fret S guitar is because it would be my absolute dream guitar. I have an S470DX and it is pretty awesome but it just feels like I can play so much better on a 24
fret neck
because that's what I did all of my serious learning on. But yeah, Ibanez will never make it because it would cut into the RG market.

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez
Are you sure thats not the actual guitar that he uses, coz he is actually holding that guitar on the picture of him on the Ibanez website. and another thing i noticed was that the EMG 81 and the EMG 60 were the wrong way round.

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez
I heard from local
Ibanez dealer
that they will release another
Mick Thompson model
in NAMM -07. Probably same specs like before, but black with white binding... Can't wait!

Re: Mick from Slipknot + new Ibanez
Am I missing something? Why are people hyped about a MIK that costs $1200 that has the features of a $400 guitar? Just block the trem and put EMG's in it...
Personally I hate Slipknot and Mick Thompson, but maybe he has some good guitar chops I haven't seen? Because of what I have seen...I'd be dead before I would be seen with that guitar. No offense to Slipknot fans out there.

Yeah, from what I've seen he's just a power chord whore, and tunes his guitars to drop Q just because 7
string guitars
became trendy (see first page).
