MMM1 Mike Mushok Signature Baritone

Does anyone here either own, or have played the MMM1?

I'm curious as I'd like to buy one, and I'd like to know what everyones thoughts are on it.

cheers.

I have one. And I rather like it. Very good build quality, especially for a Korean guitar (I thought it was MIJ until I saw the headstock). Fantastic sustain, of course, great note clarity, lovely oiled neck that's slim without being skinny at all.

I swapped the stock pickups for a Humbucker From Hell and a PAF Pro, the stocks were ok but a bit warmer and mellower than I wanted, I was after more brightness and sparkle. I put a 5-way Superswitch in too to get some more interesting pickup combinations.

I'd highly recommend it; if I lost mine anyhow I'd get another to replace it, no question.

Cheers for the info, sounds like a good deal.

I recently invested in an RG 1527 For some Low tunned Heavy stuff, and for the most part I was happy, But I want something that has the better scale length to handle the low chords.

The pickup change sounds nice, I'd have gone for two PAF's my self,
The irony being, that I'd be putting PAF's in a gibsonesc mahogany guitar and getting a tone that ISN'T gibson, but that's what I like lol.

I think I'll buy one of these...

Yup; the sound of the guitar is heavily influenced by the extended scale; lovely piano-like clarity and attack.

I didn't really "pick" the pickups; I asked the man from DiMarzio and he suggested them as an interesting combination, and that's exactly what they are. Maximum clarity in the neck, and an unusual but very musical "woody" sound from the bridge. I'd definitely recommend putting a SuperSwitch in, it massively increases the instrument's versatility without cluttering it up or making it complicated to work...

I know i've probably said this 1,000,000 times before, but i really wish Ibanez had made the production model with the Radius body.

Mike still seems to be using the prototypes in the studio.

I've probably said it as many times as you have: I fully agree. Should've gone with the Radius style body.

And the one in that picture looks identical to the MMM1, except with the Radius body, and I'm not sure, but it doesn't look like a neck-through.

I agree, but I still really dig the MMM1 as it stands. I hope they continue to be successful, so Ibanez keeps making them!

I just put some nylon tape-wound 14s on mine. Very interesting...

Are the sustains on these better than the Les Pauls?

Also I wouldn't mind one of Steve's baritone Jems.

I wouldn't like to comment - I've only played a handful of LPs. But the MMM1 has enormous sustain - neck-thru, thru-body stringing, massive solid heavy bridge...

Well from your experience, which one has better sustain?

No idea. I've never ABd the two. If you really pushed me to answer, I'd guess the MMM1, but sustain has never been a problem for me on any guitar.

Don't tell me you have a sustainer on your guitar.

Well I was just wondering about the MMM1, thats all, not that it'd be the next guitar I buy though.

A Sustainiac on one! It's an RG570 (well, used to be) with a Sustainiac, internal GK-2, SD 59s and a hand-made 26.75" baritone neck.
