modding rgs whats the difference
Hey guys, just fishing for some input. Ive got a rg320, not a great guitar but its ok. im in the proccess of putting better hardware on it. I know everyone hails the rg550 and models similar to it, but really, is there that much difference in lets say a stock rg 550 vs a upgraded rg 3xx. and by upgraded i mean, new pickups, trem, and tuners, ect? thanks

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
For what you spend upgrading everything, you'd save money just getting a 550. Even so, you could dump all that cash into the guitar and at the end of the day still just have a modded 320.
A used 550 would be cheaper than getting just the trem and pickups without even having to get a 320.

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
honestly ive played modded rg3xxs and they have felt and sounded as good as some rg5xxs, if not better, i could care less if everyone knows i have a rg3xx.

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
It's like modding a
mexican strat
with american pups and hardware. It may be just as good as a usa strat, but you will spend the difference in price to upgrade an inferior product to the usa spec. Just get a 550/570.
As a side note, alot of users of RG5xx series still upgrade pups and perform mods. I have a 570 that I modded with new pups and wiring, and I block the trem. for me its like my RG Paul. RGs are a dime a dozen, just get a good used 5xx.

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
the deal is i already got a 320, got a x2n and a evo for it. i dont have enough money to get a 55o , besides i have made extensive visual mods to it. it sounds good i just want to get it to a level like a 5xx, do ya know what i mean?

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
Unless you are going to replace the neck and body you wont get it to a 550.

Re: modding rgs whats the difference
i understand the neck, but why is the 550 body better, not including pickup config?

Dude, Im actually not trying to be a dck here, but you've been playing for 3 months and all you talk about is modding things. Do you even know what your doing and why you are doing it yet?

right, but dumping money into a lower quality guitar doesnt make it a higher quality instrument.
