Modified Wizard II

My 270 has been apart for a few months now because I hate the Wizard II and I decided to put it back together as a detune guitar.

So then I was wondering if you could turn it into a W I, I gave up trying to get it as thin as a W I because its just to hard with the headstock on it.

I sanded the bottom edge on a greater angle because that is probably the worst thing about the W II, it digs into my palm, I then plained the back flat to make it more of a U, and smoothed the edges.

I then decided to leave it bare wood so I wiped it with a damp cloth to raise the grain and sanded it, I did that a few times until the water had no effect, It's very very smooth now and shouldn't go black like most bare necks.

believe it or not but this is now a very confortable neck, imho it's better than my W I now, it's like a W I but thicker. The only thing is the fretboard shape and the stock fretwork is horrendous of course.

The guitar now has the modified neck, an edge and airbucker V7 / V8, this is a MUST if you still have V's on your guitar.

I will be playing this guitar alot more now

Yeah, 400mm vs the 430mm of the Original Wizard, is it?

Re: Modified Wizard II

According to Jemsite's specs, 400 for the US Wizard II, 430 for the Japanese Wizard II, 430 for the Wizard. I'm contemplating sanding mine as well, but I'm a little leary of my woodworking skills.

Re: Modified Wizard II

that is the MAIN thing I like about the wizards. Flatter radius = easier bends and lower action.
