My Axe

Hey guys! My name is Patrick and I'm 15. This is a thread especially made for my RG. I bought an RG from my friend for dirt cheap and decided to refinish it. I had no previous experience with anything like that. I researched and got alot of info from here and I want to thank everyone and the Ibanez/Jem world. I did a marble/swirl paintjob, redid all the electronics, put Dimarzio Evolutions in neck and bridge, and the thing looks and feels absolutely incredible. But sounds twice as good! please feel free to post any comments, suggestions, questions etc.

I dont know if you can tell in the pic below but for some reason the saddle on the trem for the B String sits lower than all the others. I have taken it all apart and can't figure out what it is. It kind of annoying because when playing high notes the string touches the frets.

Hope you like it! Let me know. Also I am looking for a good mod to do on the neck, maybe swirl headstock and gunstock oil in the neck? P.S. I am working on getting video for youtube and myspace and what not so I'll post a link here when I get something uploaded.

Pics work here http://www.ibanez.com/forum/forum_po...724&PN=1&TPN=1

Re: My Axe

Yeah it is one of a kind. I dipped it a little differently to get the different shades and shapes, but there is no way I could get even close to the exact same patterns.

Re: My Axe

If the B string saddle is sitting a little lower than you would like you can just shim it with a small strip of emery paper (type of sand paper). Cut a small strip and sit it under the edge of the saddle closest to your bridge pickup and check to see if the height is more where you want it.

Re: My Axe

Scratch that, looks like you may have your B and high E string saddles around the wrong way. The middle saddles (D G) should sit the highest, next 2 (A B) a little lower, and the last 2 ( E e) should be the lowest, matching the radius of your fretboard pretty much.

Re: My Axe

wow very nice!

did you actually do the swirl yourself?? looks fantastic in that blue!
some people do a swirl on the headstock as well.

just curious: was it difficult? to strip the coating then swirl and coat the guitar again??

Re: My Axe

well it definetly was a project. Due to my lack of experience it took me longer than it should have. I am going to try swaping the saddles around and see what I come up with. And yes everything done to that guitar I did myself. Stripped body, preped, spray painted many coats, swirled, clear coated, and buffed to a factory shine. Not to mention wire in those pups
