[It was cheap, it isn't exaclty perfect, but it is a good useable neck.]

its cheap if you can afford it
it was used / damaged so was cheaper than usual
I dont know how many of those necks are about but I couldnt afford to miss this one (although I nearly did!!)
I got the neck from Rich, I know he has another and im sure he would be happy to quote you
TBH ive never even played a JEM but this neck is just amazing, the frets are so slim and profile is awesome.
the pups are ordered and im waiting for a delivery date :-|
I need an
edge trem
if anyone has one for sale
id love to buy new but cant afford it
- apparently the family needs to go on holiday
if anyone has stuff for sale I need:
Nut
tuners (gotoh of course)
misc hardware - strap pins etc....
edge trem c/w body inserts
my central heating system leaked last night destroying about 4 square meters of my wooden floor before I could fix it
that will also limit my cash for the project...

No gigs, I only just moved to cambridge and dont know anyone, plus... I only just quit playing rugby, which is bad for your fingers so... all in all, im recently returned from a 5(ish) year break from playing the guitar...
but im back

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
OK, I ordered and recerived this morning much of the hardware... sweeeeeet
piccie of new toys..
here we have the new tuners, nut and
string tree
, in cosmo....mmmmmmm...
and this is my new problem, there are no countersink/bore holes for the 5-way switch mounts - damn !
see here
so how do I get around this ? im not willing to put countersinks in the body becuse im worried about crackin the paint...
so all i can think of is ferrules for the screws (like AANJ) or an acrylic plate with countersinks in ! any sugestions ?
ALSO !!! Im thinking of going for a Lo-pre edge trem for this thing, any suggestions ?
Jaden.

Ah, forgot to mention that I didnt want to fit a pickguard
im not a very animated player so dont scratch the body of the guitar with overdone pick movements.
one thing I forgot to mention is that I bought a barrel jack and it dont fit, Im sure that the body was a old 570 so should accept the barrel jack but it dont
it looks like it needs the type that screws to the body on a plate and I dont want to introduce any more screws or cover any of the paintjob.
anyone ever converted one of these jacks over before ?
all I can think of doing is getting a nut that the barrel threads into and putting it on a lathe to make the O.D fit the hole and then gluing it in place.

Surely if it was an RG that had a pickguard it would have been front-routed wouldn't it? I thought this model had pickup surrounds, not a pickguard. Or am I being dull? Anyway, strange that there appears to be no countersink on the holes - I would just get some small dome headed screws (ie with a flat bottom to the head), and use them. And yes the jackplug probably did go on a plate - I would think you'd have to do that again. The plate would only have to be just bigger than the hole so it wouldn't cover much of the swirl.
Welcome to the world of doing custom jobs! There are usually small fiddles like this that need to be sorted, it's all part of the fun (ish).
Cheers mate,
Rich

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
yea, I wasnt expecting it to be easy, I would be a little disappointed if it were to easy
im gonna make a threaded boss for the output jack. dont like the idea of a plate.
dont know about the trem yet, im assured that the lo-
pro edge
is just as good as the edge but I need to investigate whether the body requires mods or not....
I haev a full workshop available to me so I really should be able to solve these small issues

Any particular reason why you chose not to have a
monkey grip
? Just curious.
