Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
NOS= New Old Stock , and I don't think it would work anyways since it has no middle pickup.
It looks like your going to need
pickup rings
too.

I think the pups look good, like a centre point for the swirl to go round
Sometimes overkill can be too much!! Looks cool to me

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
I don't think the outline of the middle pickup sticks out that much, nothing to realy be too concerned about.
I think it's gonna turn out beautifuly.

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
Finally, got the trem in, fitted the pups with cosmo rings... polished the frets.
put some strings on it, balanced the trem, sorted the intonation, soldered an earth wire to the trem then plugged it in....
awesome, everything worked first time.....
the jury is still out on the breed pups but they do sound good.... just not sure if I like all the
coil splitting
and parallel wiring ive done...
after saying all that, ive not really done a full setup on this thing, I just bolted the neck on with a "guesstimate" shim then installed the trem at the lowest point that I could - im sure I could get it lower!!!
then played it !!
AWESOME !!!!
its easily already the best playing guitar I own and after playing that DNA neck I dont know if I can resist buying a JEM !!!!
really love the
scalloped frets
, im gonna do it to my RG450 now....
all in all, Im not disappointed, just got to get some control knobs and cavity/truss covers

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
very nearly finished, I have to get some countersunk screws for the 5 way switch and cavity covers...
also, im not very impressed with the dimarzio bell knobs..
I fitted them and then decided that they were not right so went to pull off the volume knob...
instead of pulling the knob off I managed to pull the entire shaft out of the volume pot+DPDT switch... not impresssed..
it still works and if I need to I will replace both pots inorder to replace the knobs with cosmo metal ones....
it does play really nicely though... although it buzzes more that my other ibanez RG's with a very similar setup...
ill get round to sorting it.. !

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
maybe the buzz could be fixed with a shim or two under the
lock nut
. i have been adding shims to my Jems and RGs and it has been working wonders for lowering the overall action on the guitars without buzzes.
BTW - the tab (piece on top of package used to hang on hook for display at stores) on the Daddario string packs is a good shape and size for a shim unless you need something thinner. with a little trim here and there it works great on most of mine.
Nice job on the swirl! i'm very jealous of the DNA neck - very sweet! have you considered a clear pickguard?

Yea, Ill give that a go, I have some 0.1mm shims for the nut that ill try..
and yes, im STILL considering a clear pickguard but only for practical; reasons.... not asthetic !

Re: My Green Project !!! DNA + GMC ????
Having drilled for the mounting rings, id say you killed any possiblity of a clear pickguard...
