My new 'custom' Rg550

I used to go to a store near where I live almost everyday on my lunch break and just hang out and play guitars. The employees there got a large shipment from Ibanez and decided to 'customize' the guitars. They swapped necks, pickguards, etc. So that customers could get all kinds of cool options not available from Ibanez. I recently found one of these guitars that had been traded in at that same store. I remeber looking at this guitar 7 years ago and really wanting it. So, I picked it up for $300 a couple of days ago. It's amazing-one of those guitars that just has the 'it' factor. It's an RG550 with a Jem pickguard, and a neck from an RG520.

Congrats. Nice price. I check pawnshops now and then for good deals.

I had an RG520 in a matte grey for a little while that was the same price you paid for yours and it was in MINT condition with a hard case.

I really like the RG520 alot. Not having the middle single coil is pretty cool. I love great deals!

What store is this, Centerville Music ? I couldn't see Hauer doing that... The only other "authorized" Ibanez shop is the place in Fairborn, isn't it ? Absolute Music ... had to look them up as I couldn't remember their name.

Actually, yes, it was Centerville Music. Great store. I used to go there all the time and hang out. Occasionally, I would even buy stuff. So, you are from around the same area?

Play It Again is a great store. I go there regularly and Alan is a great guy to deal with. I really think that it's the best store Dayton has had since Centerville Music in the 90's. Just my opinion.

Music stores used to be great places to go and hang out. I'm not sure why, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

I haven't been in the new location but did glance in while driving by a few days ago. He's got a sh*tload of guitars now. He did before in the old store but it was just too small. You only had room to walk between stuff....
