My upgraded 1977 Ibanez Les Paul

My poor, beat to hell Ibanez Les Paul needed an upgrade, so i got it done. PAF Pro in the neck, Super Distortion in the bridge, grind and polish on the frets and an adjustment of a high fret which caused a note or two to "plink" when played. By God, the 30 year old guitar plays like it's brand spankin' new! I couldn't believe the tones I was getting after having the old original pickups just get weaker and weaker. Just goes to show Ibanez made 'em good back then also.

Re: My upgraded 1977 Ibanez Les Paul

Well, here's the pic pre-new pickups.

Still a great guitar and really can't believe changing the p-ups made this much of a difference. I'm not sure what kind of wood Ibanez used for LP copies at the time, but the sustain is insane now! Also had to switch out the toggle switch plate as the rings underneath were cracked and causing bad switching between the p-ups.

Of course, after the Gibson/Ibanez lawsuit, Ibanez had to change some things around and ended up with the Performer series - This one is a PF200, but there were PF100's through PF400 with upgraded specs the higher the model you went, obviously.

This one is completely stock and still sounds great and is in great shape (just some surface cracks that don't show up in the pic). the back is contoured almost like a Strat and ithe back of the neck is painted in the same color as the body (not sure of the exact name of the color ...I call it Antique White).

Wow...looks great Glad to hear the upgrades made all the difference!

Just out of curiosity, what are the odds of one being able to find one of those on the used market nowadays?

I see them on the 'bay all the time. Generally anywhere between 300-400 bucks. That's for the LP's. I rarely see the PF series anymore on there.
