hello,

First Post here, so hey to everyone!

I'm not really an Ibanez Expert so, I've got questions here:

First which model is that? (I know for a fact there is a PRS trem on this one, replacing the original trem, and i couldn't find anythin online regarding a white Ibanez, with one humbucker and 2 single coils PU)

Do you think it could be a new signature model? Custom shop only?

Thanx you

I find it interesting that James Hetfield has an ESP endorsement/sig but still plays whatever he likes: Gibson, Trussart, Ken Lawrence, etc. I guess ESP are so happy to have him that as long as he plays ESP a certain amount of the time, they don't mind him using other stuff too.

From Dan, his Guitar tech:

What is up with that white Ibanez Dave played (in the pic that accompanies the El Cid post)? I thought I saw a PRS tremolo on that instrument, can you tell us about that Guitar?

A: (Dan) I had that made for Dave recently through our friend Rob at Ibanez. Usually with Ibanez if you want a tremolo you get a Floyd Rose, but when you are teching a Floyd Rose and a string breaks it can sometimes take longer than is acceptable to change it out. So I had that one made with a floating tremolo like you find on the PRS or a Strat. Once you put the Sperzel locking tuners on it, it stays in tune 95% as well as the Floyd Rose does.

You know, maybe its an unfair assessment, but I can't stand it when popular guitarists become "gear whores"; people who switch up endorsements often (or most-likely) because money has been exchanged. Either that or they don't have much going on and their endorsement deal IS their nut!
Sadly, I think Eddie Van Halen has fallen into this category as well. Dave Mustane as well.
Just my opinion....
I just think if you're switching up endorsements every few years or so, you're not really keen on the product anyway. Not to sound like a company fanboy, but I'd honestly endorse Ibanez for absolutely nothing in return.
Anyway, it looks like a pretty cool guitar though. A H-S-S RG with and AANJ? I'm there!

I don't think Navarro has a Signature guitar(obviously, but I largely mean doesn't have one coming). Seems like he just had a custom one made. Which would mean he is just playing what he wants.

I also can't think of very many guitarist who whore around for the money(Obviously Van Halen comes to mind...but everybody has known that he is one of the biggest dicks in the Music Industry for a while now). Most guys who are at the endorsment level (and just for the books, the Company endorses you not the other way around) aren't exactly hurting for money anymore. I highly doubt Mustaine switched to Dean for the money. I heard that ESP pissed him off (and they deserved it! Imagine that!) so he flipped them the bird and took his business elsewhere.

the weird part is the rumours that were running some years ago where Navarro was putting sh!t on Ibanez with sentences like: "the worst guitars ever" or so... but those were presumably just bullsh!t roaming on the net?
what i like, is that among all the non-shred model Ibanez makes, he's got a RG, going opposite to the general trend.

hey,

I'd like to say that I posted these questions purely focused on the axe itself.
I'll be honest, I like the guy, and am fortunate enough to hang out with him fairly often. I got nothing against people bashing him, it happened before, and it will happen again, that's life.

But that wasn't really a debate on the guy, but more on the guitar. I love guitars, and always curious.

I'll make sure to get some more infos as soon as I can get hold of him.

What I know is that, the Jane's addiction reunion, brings the 4 members back to the past, as it's the first time Navarro/Farell/Perkins play again with bassist Eric Avery. Dave wanted to get close to the sound of what it was back in the 90's when Jane's started. (altho, he will achieve the same with his main PRS. But I guess, sometime you just wanna change guitars from time to time, gig to gig, or period of your life)
So that explains the Ibanez vibe.

Don't get me wrong, I won't spend time defending him here, I just talk guitars here.

Strays is one of my favourite albums of the this decade.

I'm glad to see Ibanez making an SSH again as the 560 is one of my favourite guitars of any decade :)

with regards to the headstock, they might have used a stock neck for it, Blackdog has a stock neck if I remember correctly, and some of Vai's guitars have had stock necks retrofitted to them.

It's all good if you ask me :)

Fender built a Stratocaster with an Edge for Tom Morello. A lot of companies will give a player whatever they like as long as they're happy, even if it means using another company's hardware. For example, Nuno's Washburns have a Seymour Duncan pickup as well as a Bill Lawrence, and I'm sure both of those companies would have loved to be the only pickup brand on the guitar, but when the guitar was designed Nuno was huge and it was still good for them to have their hardware on his guitar.

Oh, I wasn't burning on Dave as a guitar player at all! I have several records with him playing on them and really like his playing. And I love "Strays".
I was just making a point that if you go from one company to another it kind of lessens the effect of "endorsement". And in retrospect I probably labeled Dave wrong since he probably plays what he wants rather than being endorsed.
And I love Megadeth (I have every record) but Dave is on guitar company #4 as well. B.C. Rich (I'm not sure if he was really endorsed, though), Jackson, ESP, and Dean.
In effect, I guess I was just being an a$$hole! ;)
And just for the books, there is a mutual benefit to endorsement. Steve Vai makes a chunk of change from the Jem (not to mention lots of free guitars) and, in turn, Steve's name helps sell lots of Jems. Yeah, he's not hurting for money, but who turns down MORE money and free stuff?
Well, that's kind of irrelevant anyway. It would be cool to see Dave's white guitar come out as an actual model. I'm not keen on the PRS tailpiece, though.

I've Always liked Navarro. I thought One Hot Minute was amazing, and I thought Strays was a great album overall. Deconstruction was superb! But him not following through with Spread was a huge let down. Those original tracks, which I am lucky to have are really good, and I really think he has done himself, his fans, and all fans of "alternative rock" a huge disservice by not sticking to his guns and releasing it. I know what happened, he got dropped from his record label, and Chad Smith was busy with RCHP. But man what the hell has happened since then? The solo album was el stinko. Then his book got retooled, and wasn't has good as it could have been. All the other junk; camp freddy (his big complaint about playing with RHCP was that "it was like playing in a cover band with the actual members"), panic channel, porno movies... He is not living up to his potential, and I wonder why. So freak6767 ask him wtf is up with that for me ok?

He went as far as to get the damn Spread logo tattoo on his arm even! But no Album, it makes no sense.
