Need a pickguard for RG760

Does anyone have any idea where I could get either a clear or black pickguard for an RG760 (H-S-S)? I don't need to pay 75$ for some fancy-schmancy custom job; just a plain, ordinary pickguard will do. Thanks in advance!

Since Ibanez never made one, you will have to go custom. WD pickguards will make one from a tracing. Their prices are reasonable.

Cheers for the tip, I've now got a couple places to look into... Shame Ibanez never made pickguards for the 760s; I could have sworn that I saw one in the 1990 catalogue but it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, heh!

Re: Need a pickguard for RG760

Mine is definitely an 89, but I have no idea what colour it was originally. I'm pretty sure it was the 'HP' finish until someone refinished it in a lime-greenish colour... The green is kind of cool but I'm planning to refinish it in the original HP colour with (hopefully) a clear pickguard and purple pickups/fender knobs/switch tip. Kind of a cross between an RG760, the guitar Paul Gilbert used in Intense Rock 1 and... something with purple pickups.

I'm having someone make a custom clear pickguard for mine currently.
If you want some more information on how, who, and what just send me a PM!

Mike

Cool. I used to have a 760. Very nice guitar (still miss it sometimes)

Didn't know they ever came with a pickguard; always thought they were rear routed. Learn something new every day!

Re: Need a pickguard for RG760

I remember now! And last year someone on the bay had a new(ish) 760 that had a flame top, pickguard and satin hardware. Looked killer but I didn't want to send $700 to Japan to buy it.

Sounds pretty sweet! A bit of an update; I'm kind of committed (or should be committed, I don't know :P) to the project now. I've installed a purple Fast Track 1 and a purple Double Whammy (which shreds, incidentally!). I've also picked up a volume/tone knob set and a switch tip (purple Dimarzio parts). I think the purple will look really cool on a Heather Pearl finish. On the green, however... not so much. A lesson, boys and girls: if you're planning to refinish a guitar in a drastically different colour, and you've bought hardware to match said new colour, you might just want to wait until AFTER you've done the refinish to install them.

Re: Need a pickguard for RG760

Just got my RG760 back with the custom Lexon pickguard. If anyone is
interested in having one made for theirs, PM me. My custom builder is
keeping the templet so he can make as many as needed. I'm not sure
what he's charging for one, now that the first one is already complete
and on my guitar.

evolved: I've always liked your 760 since it turned green and yellow but that pickguard takes it over the top... 760DX perhaps?

Get ready for the Green Goblin. I can create templets under the clear guard
and change up the sceme. I'm going with a crazy purple to set this thing off.
I'll keep you guys posted.

I had to purchase a clear sheet of Lexon from WD Music
https://www.wdmusic.com/full_sheets_of_13533_ctg.htm
Contact Joel Shinn or Dan Shinn from Lay's Guitar Shop
http://www.laysguitar.com/

Send them an email and tell them that you are interested in
a custom Ibanez RG760 pickguard like Mike's Lime Ibanez.
Joel is keeping the templet because I told him there was
some interest from other RG760 players. As far as the
quality, I can personally say that it's top notch. Hope this
helps anyone interested! Contact me if there's any ?'s

Re: Need a pickguard for RG760

Only problem is my 760 must be an earlier model than yours because my volume knob is way closer to the bridge pickup than yours is. The template they have for yours would not line up with mine. Maybe they could do one without drilling the holes for the volume and tone knobs, you think?
