Fretsonthenet.com make me a 7 string version of this tripple coil ring. He should be able to make you a copy of the original 6 stringer version.

It's just a humbucker and a single pup combined in one. Send him the dimarzio specs (if you going for that route) you can find on their website.

I have original triple coil laying around if you need specs.

Why in storage? It's in mint condition. Many other cool guitar within close reach. Somehow don't want to ruin the virgin state of this one.

A non tripple 540p is still on my wish list. Something like this:

Re: need a template for 540 p tpc pu ring

Threw this together in Autocad today. Did everything in mm, but that shouldn't give too much trouble for Dave.

Thickness of PU ring: 4mm. Phillips-head width of the 4 screws holding the ring is about 4mm. Drawing has straight corners but Dave will know how to round them properly so it looks like the real deal.

Hope this helps. Did see I forgot to mark the width of the PU-ring, should have been 58mm.

Taking it out of storage I was awestruck by the beauty of the instrument.

yep, great guitar indeed!
a couple more pics to help you. notice the rings is not "empty" inside, like a standard mould ring, but it's quite a thick, solid piece of plastic.

I wouldn't worry so much about some battle scars. It only makes the guitar have more character. Unless it's really really bad, I wouldn't touch it.

And a swirl would simply ruin it. Wouldn't fit the guitar, and although there are some nice swirls out there, most of them are not.

For nice refinish you should check out Sims Custom Shop (banner on this site).
He has some nice refinish examples on his site. The custom mixed rosso red should come very close:

Or an LNG green 540p would be awesome too.
