Cool

Need Help Identifying An Early RG

I will be posting some pics tomorrow of an RG I am trading for. It's not all original, But I don't plan to sell/trade it. Basically its got IBZ/USA pups. Its a humbucker in the bridge with a single coil in the middle and neck position. It has sharktooth inlays and does not say RG on the headstock, just Ibanez in white against the black background. It has either an Edge 1 or 2 bridge, And by both our estimates is early 90's. The neck plate says "New Ideas For Today's Musicians" then a Pennsylvania address. That is the big thrower for me as I think thats a trait of the 88-89 RG's. Also the plate dips toward the bottom neck corner, also like the 88-89 RGs. There is no lines on the back of the neck so I think its one piece maple. I am a fender guy usually but this guitar blew my mind, I usually dislike the necks but this was thicker then the wizard 2's and played like a dream. Regardless of what it turns out to be I'm getting it as its the best playing guitar I've gotten to play, but I would like some back knowledge. It does not have that plastic cover that some Ibanez's have at the toggle switch (Not the tip, at the base)

I will post pics tomorrow but thought I'd do my best to describe it and hope someone knows.

Re: Need Help Identifying An Early RG

I was actually coming back to edit that I am thinking it was a 760. (btw thats fast for a worded description, thanks a lot )

I should have also put that the plastic covers of the pups are a grey color. I think its an '89 Rg760 in LR finish, whatever LR stands for.

Re: Need Help Identifying An Early RG

Ok I have the guitar here now, will have pics up asap. There is a serial on the neckplate, but it does now have any letters. The serial is 884043.Any info would be great, but I still think its an '89 RG760

*Edit* nvm, I found out the serial decoder thing. It's an '88 by what the serial says.

Re: Need Help Identifying An Early RG

Probably an early 89 using a leftover 88 SN#. Ibanez does that a lot.

Re: Need Help Identifying An Early RG

That is likely, as I don't think the 88's had grey pups
