Need some help identifying an S series...

Can anyone identify this?

From what I can tell it's an early'ish S series...
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Re: Need some help identifying an S series...

If the neck and body originally belong together it's 1990-1992 probably (considering the neck joint and the 'Custom Made' inlay) If that's an original Edge, it's probably 1990. That said, I can't remember if I ever saw a single pickup Saber like this one before. Are you sure it isn't modified? (No visible clues of filled up pickup holes/selector switches?) In that case it probably was a 540S-LTD once upon a time.

Very strange, but have a look at the guitar in this new thread over at the Ibanez Collector's Forum:

Same thing -- single humbucker, square neck joint, shark tooth inlays ...

Maybe it's one of those US customs where you could pick the pickup config that you want?

Thanks for your help everyone, I really appreciate it. It sold for $400 or so on fleabay, much more than I was prepared to pay, due to the condition it was in!
