new bridge pickup for an SC620?

So, I just got a nice SC620 (thanks Jesse!)...and the bridge pickup, while it has great tone, lacks the overall punch that I'd really like sometimes. *So, I'm looking for recommendations as to a good replacement pickup for the bridge position pickup. *

Thanks in advance!

Josh, I don't remember how high I had that pup set. *I like mine clean, so it might stand a little height adjustment, which could boost output a little.

I got great results from my 540 sabre with a Tone Zone in the bridge (back when I thought metal was the ONLY thing), so I'd recommend looking there. *Different configuration, but the same mahogany body.

Or, if you like crunch but not a lot of bass & treble, Carvin makes a nice (and cheap!) pup in their M22SD.

I use a Duncan JB now, but it's in basswood - never set one in mahogany. *Plus, it's not as much of a cruncher as the ones above.

p.s. (thanks for the props on eBay!)

THanks for the info Jesse! *I'll look into those...I want a full sound, but alot more punch than it has now. *The bridge pickup was right up there...and I've raised and lowered it to different heights as well. *I sure love that guitar! *I ordered a new case too....I ripped the remaining lock off it to get it open (couldn't find the key anywhere...lol!). *

Another question about pickups...I see on the ToneZone they show the F-space model? *What's that all about?

I'd say a Tone Zone would work well in that....an Evo would probably sound good, as would a Fred or Steve's Special....with Dimarzio bridge pups, you can't really go wrong, I think....and F-Spacing is when the pickup magnets are positioned in a way so that they coincide with the string spacing on a Floyd Rose-bridged guitar....I honestly don't hear much difference between F-Spaced and non-F-Spaced pups.....for instance, I have an F-Spaced Seymour Duncan JB in my Les Paul Studio, and it sounds no different than a non-F-Spaced pup....just my two cents

Abe, that Duncan I installed was F-spaced? Wow, either I did'nt notice or I forgot. Maybe it was the beer, hmmm. Anyway the JB sounded great in the Paul.

Umm...Josh, I didn't lock it! *Never had the key.

That right latch had no button but a proper move with a screwdriver would do it... *I'd bet the case could be fixed pretty easily, and lots of people (not me, ut others) really dig the tweed thing. *If I kept the guitar, I'd have had it fixed.

My wife is playing its twin! *She's gotten into playing - can't believe it. *Has a bunch of open chords down in a few weeks...

Made me put 9's on it, though... :-(

I've had F-spaced and regular pups in a Floyd bridge slot before. *Never noticed a sound problem with regular ones, even though the strings were definitely not lined up over polepieces.

i'd put the Duncan JB in the SC620 bridge for a better definition. anyway, Gambale used to have a JB in his S-signature which sounded awesome...

Ahhh....well, I broke it more then. * *Either way, I've got a new case on the way...the 620 seemed to slide around alot in that one, and I want something to hold it nice n' snug. *I'm now seriously considering getting an SC420 as well....(or maybe two of 'em) to tune down to Sevendust land. * *I LOVE THAT 620!!!!!

new bridge pickup for an SC620?

So Friday my ToneZone arrived at my door. *I ran to Home Depot and picked up a soldering iron, and headed back home to start the install. *All in all, it went pretty smoothly....since I followed the directions that came with the pickup. *So far I LOVE the sound! *It's MUCH better than the 'stock' pickup that came with it....it just didn't have enough balls for me.

So anyway....thanks for the recommendations guys! *My only problem now is I think I screwed up the volume knob in the process....since when I roll it back completely it starts to pick up all sorts of interferance, but as soon as I roll it back on it's fine. *I live less than a mile from a radio station tower, so my amp picks up all sorts of sh*t
anyway, but when I turn the volume completely off it gets a little extreme. *I'll be dropping it off with the local guitar tech to have a look at it soon.

Thanks again!
