Well, I did it. After a couple of months of periodic visits and sampling, I bought it. Long & McQuade here in Vancouver had a 1989 RG750 in Violet Pearl. Thought it was silver at first, but they didn't have silver in 89!

It goes really well with my other 89 RG750 in Five Alarm Red.

I love L&M (downtown) They seem to carry more Ibanez than other stores. RGs rule too. Good to see another Vancouver RG lover around here!

Personally, I feel the Heather Pearl and Violet Pearl Color codes got swicthed around in the catalogs. If you look at the 7xx page of the 1989 catalog, HP is like metallic pink, and VP is Grey. Now, somehow I don't thing heather=pink, or violet=silver/grey.

So, basically, I think that silver color is HP(Heather Pearl), no matter what the catalogs say. There's no violet in the finish at all..

BTW, congratz on the guitar. I have an 88 RG750 in the same finish.

Hey Gumby, which L&M are you refering to? Hastings? Granville?

I was at the Hastings store a couple of weeks ago, and they had nothing any good. I found this one at the Granville store.
