New Ibanez Catalog arrives - Usually an exciting thing...

We got a copy of the 2001 Ibanez catalog this week at the store where I teach, and despite an attractive layout, there's so little gear of interest to me anymore - which sucks because I was hoping I could take advantage of my employee status and get some gear for cheap!

As a catalog archivist (I remember getting the '91 and '92 catalogs in the mail - that was an exciting time), I am saddened.

Two Jems. *The least amount we've ever had. *

The low-budget Satriani is still around but not the low-budget Jem?

The low-budget Gilbert survives with still no higher-income parent, and despite a picture of Paul with a PGM300.

The 27" scale guitars look kind of cool.

Once again, Ibanez offers the most useless variety of colors known to man.

RG7321? I can't figure out the difference between it and last year's Rg7421...but at least a fixed bridge RG7 still survives. *Only in black. *BLEAH.

New wavy neck inlay in several S guitars. *Kinda goofy looking, but I guess I should be happy with anything new.

I like the new funky basses. *Weren't these available in the early 90's as custom jobs? Were they called Affirma or something?

Sigh.

Exactly, The guitars I am interested in are no longer being marketed here. I think the Japanese market gets some more interesting stock according to another post though. It sucks, I guess its all about **** and and other classified resources for now.

Plantboy, the 7321 I think hs a 7-string wizard 2. I can't beleave that the grx720(imo the slopiest guitar ever made) is still around. Though I do lve the look and feel of the body, but I doubt they will ever make a japanese version.

Yeah the Japanese market definitley has a few Ibanez guitars available that I know the Amercian market would love to see. I haven't seen a Japanese 2001 catalog yet but I know 2000 had the Jem FP, BSB, VWH, and DBK available still, Plus you got a JS1000 BTB, and JS900(Which personally I think should be taking the JS100 slot). Anyway I'll let you know as soon as I get a Japanese 2001 what the differences are!!
