New models for 2003?

Yeah, will Ibanez introduce new guitar models for next year? I've been thinking about buying a RG570, but I don't want it yet if they're gonna bring a new model next year.

The line up changes from year to year with new models coming and old ones going, but the RG570 has been available pretty much continuously in one form or another for 15 years now so I expect it to be available next year, it might have some colour changes though, it might not.

Ibanez might release some new models at NAMM but I'm not sure just how different they'll be to the existing ones in the range.

i was looking at getting an rg 570 too and was thinking about waiting to see for new models and colors, but i don't want to wait about 4 months and then if there arn't any new colors(there will probably be new models, but i don't really want anything else but a 500 series in that price range) it would have been a waste of a wait, and they'll probably have some other stupid color anyway. if possible, worse than the choice of gray nickel or rootbeer metallic. which color were you looking at getting?

Gray nickel looks great to me, its just that its been overdone. The sparkle colors would be a good addition again, but quite honestly most colors in that series look cheap anway. What specific colors would you guys like to see in the new line that you cant get now?

A couple of years ago I saw a couple of the S-Series (blech) guitars had a really nice satin-y finish on them, rather than clearcoat.

Those were sweet.

not necesarrily any specific color really, just more of a variety and some more tasteful ones. the rootbeer is ugly and the gray nickel is kind of girly and just a color i'm sick of seeing.

if there selling guitars for around 550 like the rg 570, there should be a lot more color options, and different ones that people will like, not two colors that don't appeal to a lot of people

Andy Timmons (see my report in the players area...) said Ibanez will release his AT2000 model next year. Basically a SA guitar....with HORRIBLE tuning.

horrible tuning? what's the cause? i've personally tried the SA, it's a very good investment but i must say the frets could have been bigger

well not HOOOOOORRIBLE, but IMHO a 'pro' guitar may need a little check between songs, not a full tuning.
I must say that I asked Andy about it and he said the reason is he plays too hard, and that he has problems with all kinds of systems.

I am pretty sure that there are ways to keep the SA style guitars in tune (locking tuners, roller nuts etc...) and you can always swap the trem for a wilkinson (i think)

Even those methods wont keep the type of guitar he uses in tune, too much room for error. Only the floyd wins in the end :>

There are a few things we can be reasonably certain of with pretty much every NAMM show:

Ibanez may or may not introduce new production models and/or a few J-Custom limited editions.

Everyone will either like or not like any or all of these new introductions (if any).

Most will complain about colour, price, Ibanez's decision to include feature A over feature B, and/or why they didn't introduce a purple metalflake hollowbody Double Edge MIDI 7-string with an ebony fretboard and eye-of-newt inlays, just because they would be "THE FIRST IN LINE TO BUY ONE!"

Harmony Central will give Ibanez minimal coverage, resulting in cries of outrage and accusations of bias.

The Ibanez.com site will not be updated for at least four months after the show.

dude. Get it right. It's not purple, it's "wine mist." Also, we prefer the term "salamander" to "newt." Otherwise, you were spot on.

Here in Europe we have three colors: Black, Cosmic Blue and Gray Nickel. In the store there was BK and GN. I guess I'd go with the good and safe black.

I'm not totally sure though, because I'd like to play other music too than just heavy. A limited SA360 looks good too: http://www.machinehead.co.uk/images/sa360exlg.jpg. Anyone know about that tremolo?

Whoa. Why don't we have those over here? Is that a neck-thru?

That is one sharp-looking guitar!
