New Toy Roadstar II RG440
I just got this off an auction and it arrived yesterday. The condition was near excellent. I immediately took it apart to switch pickups. The original pickguard was altered for a neck humbucker instead of the single coil.
Threw in a PAF Pro in the bridge and a Dimarzio H4 (made for Fender) which is supposed to sound similar to a Breed. Added the chrome pickup rings as well. Wired the tone knob as a push/pull to split the neck pickup. Sounds great.

Very nice indeed
I was looking at a
Roadstar
II yesterday and it was like an '88 or some wicked old model, and the locking nut was actually on the headstock. Talk about old school.

Re: New Toy Roadstar II RG440
Yeah, me either. I thought they'd look cool with the chrome Edge bridge, but they kinda stand out in a not so good way. Originally, this Roadstar series had black pickup rings on the black pickguard. I'm thinking about getting a custom pickguard anyway, without using rings on top.
Any ideas of something that would look nice with this color guitar?

You could always just change the rings and leave it?

I think it looks cool as is too. I think it's truly original looking and not gaudy or over the top in any way. I'd keep it the way it is, no one else has something that looks like that.

Yeah, scored it off Evil Bay. I looked for a while, and waited for a deal. I didn't expect the condition to be as good as it was, so I got lucky there.
Keep watching, 'cause they show up for less than they should at times.

No, but funny thing is that I actually did pick that exact guitar up that was used in Back to the Future, got a mirror pickguard put on it, but ended up parting it out because I couldn't stand the Rock'R tremolo. It looked pretty sweet though. Found an old pic. I love black guitars with chrome hardware and a mirror pickguard. I want to find an RG550 type or another one of these older Roadstar/RG models with the Edge trem and get that look back.

Yep. The Cream RG440 Roadstar with the Edge is set up like that too, but the Edge bridge stays in tune.
