NGD: 1991 540SLTD Custom

I was checking out some JS series guitars at Knoxville GC when I came across a used 1991 S540 (540S? Can't remember how those years/model numbers work) in whatever that purplish blue color is.
I was so stoked to find something just like I was looking for, and never thought I would find it in person. It has everything I thought I'd like in a great RG570, but with my preferred mahogany body and my preferred 22 frets. The sounds in all five positions are terrific...just awesome. Let's call it the honeymoon but I truly feel like I found the shred guitar I've been looking for to get out of the way of the music I want to play. Forgive the flowery language. Awesome to get an old MIJ/MIA Ibby for a fraction of what a new MIJ would cost.

I'll post pics as soon as I'm able. Interested in feedback from any older Saber owners.

Sweet score. Just lucked out on a older S myself. The only difference for me was it was a 520 so no middle pickup. I'm not an S guy either but your right, 22 frets, mahagony and an Edge trem, it was too good to pass on considering the price and condition its in.

Yes forgot to mention the Lo-Pro trem is finally something nicer than the Original Edge, in my experience.

I still have my '93 S540LTD Jewel Blue. Still love that guitar (my first electric), getting ready to change the pickups out in it. It has this sweet spot at the 9th fret on the G string that sings.

Jewel Blue is the color of mine as well, as far as I can tell from the '91 catalog. Pickup wise it has some DiMarzio in the bridge and a Duncan in the neck, with the original single coil in the middle. No plans to change them as they sound great, except perhaps the stock middle. As soon as I do my first setup on it I'll check out the pups to see what they are.
