NGD - 540R Blue Burst

So, some of you may have seen my post yesterday about my BC Rich NGD, in which the guitar was broken and had a twisted neck. So I returned that today to get a 1987(I think) 540R that has been at Guitar Center for a while. All I can say is this is the best guitar I have ever owned. The neck is amazing, I actually like it a lot better than my Original Wizard. The finish is very nice too, I love the blue burst. The pickup selection is cool too, having an on/off switch for each individual pickup is cool, not to mention it can be used for a kill switch also! I am not sure if this is original or not, but the tone knob doubles as some sort of button, which I am not sure exactly what it does. But I am really glad I swapped the BC Rich for this. Comparing the BC to the 540 is like comparing a lawnmower to a Ferrari. I think it was well worth the $360 I payed. This is now my favorite guitar in my entire collection! Also, am I correct about this being a 1987?

YES YES YES.... WINNER... People pay 3 times that much for a JS100 and all they get is a crap Dreamers JS100 . The 540R is a golden age standard prestige model.

The tone knob push/push switch is for coil split for the F1 bridge pickup, the volume knob on these early ones also has a high pass cap installed standard..

Yeah I was thinking it might be a coil split, but wasn't 100% positive.

Congrats man!!! It will stay your favorite, those 540R's are awesome. I thought about that one but didn't pull the trigger as I'm not a fan of the 3 switches that was on the 87's!!!

Great deal too!!!

Happy NGD!!!!!!!!!

Sweet score. I have a few of these. Gorgeous guitars, and yeah - the Ultra neck profile was my fave Ibanez shape.

Re: NGD - 540R Blue Burst

It's an '87, by 88 they had 5-way switches and that finish was gone (in the USA anyway) and it's one of my favorite guitars ever made. The finish is artistic mastery. The pickups aren't "F1", they're original IBZUSA without a suffix. The bridge pickup also is Pre-F-spacing, and therefore regular spaced. I like these pickups better than the next generation, but they're still pretty bland. Congrats, if you ever want to sell or trade for a different color let me know!

Congrats, I read your post as well. This is the smartest decision that you'll never forget. Don't ever trade or sell it, EVER. You'll regret it til the day you die, you'll never come across a deal like that again!
