NGD 76 Ibby Les Paul Copy

Found this thing on Craigslist here locally. They wanted 100 dollars but it had no output so I got it for 80 dollars. 76 model has super 70's pickups & schaller tuners(added by somebody). Took it home and took it apart, cleaned the pots and switches and viola sound!!!! Did a pretty thorough cleaning and added some new knobs and switch plate and for a grand total of 94.00 I have a pretty nice looking and playing guitar. I don't have a Les Paul to compare it against so I don't know the difference but it sounds pretty darn good. Especially through a clean channel. Plays nicely and it looks cool on the wall if nothing else.

Anyway the first 3 photos are before and the last 4 are after some cleaning.

Yep, I'm another one on the look out for one of these old Ibanez LP copies

You've got a great looking guitar there, regardless of the price

Cool, it has the correct body shape but not the headstock... I guess its from a time between the lawsuit models and the PFs that followed...

Awesome looking guitar, and man what a steal! congrats

Re: NGD 76 Ibby Les Paul Copy

From what I learned doing a little research you are correct. The earlier ones had the exact headstock shape from a Gibson Les Paul. The ones like my 76 model that were made before the PF series had the headstock changed to a Gretsch like shape.

Let me start by saying if anyone else has gotten a better deal on a guitar this
year (out side of free) I'd like to know!!!!!! We're talkin' $400-$600 on the bay
all day long..

Most people that have played both an Artist ,which is what you have,
and a Les Paul think the Artist smokes a Les Paul. My buddy had a Les Paul and
when I got my 1986 AR350, (w/edge trem), he came over and we compared
the 2 and HANDS DOWN the Artist has more sustain, has a warmer tone
and the quality just felt a lot better.

P.S. Yours is a AR2350CS (cherry sunburst). Though you might like to know that

Thanks for the info on the model #. I wasn't sure what it was. What really amazes me is how well the guitar stays in tune. Now if I can find a case for it. Thanks again

Re: NGD 76 Ibby Les Paul Copy

Dont listen to what jl2556 said, he's wrong. Your Ibby is a 2350CS, it is "NOT" an Artist. They are very diffrent guitars.
And no the 2350CS doesnt sound or play like a Les Paul. As you know your 2350CS is very light and isnt a solid top but a lamanate unlike a Gibson which is a solid wood guitar. The only thing I found that make them good is the pickups. Now a Ibanez Artist can sound like a Les Paul.

This is yours:

This is an Artist:

Thanks for informing me HDS. I thought all the old lawsuits were Artist series and
that they didn't start printing "Artist" on them till the later yrs.

No problem, glad you didnt get upset =)
None of the Ibanez LP copys were called "Artist" their just LP copys.

The Artist was the first true Ibanez guitar that wasnt a copy of Fender or Gibson, a good story about them in the Ibanez Untold Story Book as well. Awsome guitars. These are my babies.

Out side of used factory or nos (nearly impossible to find) you
got any other ideas on refinishing them?
My understanding is that, the gold rings only came on the
super editions. Is that true?
