NGD-got another RG827QMZ - weird dark coloring on the back of the neck?

Hi,

I got a 2nd RG827QMZ delivered today, very nice guitar, only problem is, it has some dark coloring on the back of the neck that came from the case. I tried to wipe this off with my hands, but no success.
I have two other premiums that don't have this coloring, so I'm wondering if this is something that will eventually go off with playing the guitar a lot?
It does not look very nice, so if this is something that would stay on the neck, I'd consider returning it...
Has anybody else had this kind of thing?

I wouldn't bother with that, it doesn't affect playability??

if it's not broken, don't fix it!!

Congrats on the NGD. I don't see that much, do you mean the dark stripe on the 3e pic?.

The colouring came from the case? Are you sure about that? The wood just looks like wood. It's a natural product that can vary in colour, grain pattern, etc. I don't know what you are being worried about. If the guitar plays great then as Frank Zappa would say "Shut up and play yer guitar!"

Unless it doesn't feel different at the non-darkened ends then it doesn't seem to be a problem. Iguess they placed the guitar to the case before the fluffy stuffs paint dried enough?

Yeah, the dark coloring is definitely from the case (in Europe the RG Premiums come with a soft-case), I got this guitar brand new with it's original Ibanez case.

That discoloring is exactly on the spot where the neck rests on the case backing.

If you ever sell the guitar is that going to lower the price you can get for it?

A little steel wool or high-grit sandpaper might get that out. Then tung-oil or gunstock wax to make her pretty again.

Tried to clean off the discoloring with a piece of cloth and a tiny bit of soap solution (this is what the store advised me to do), but that did not do anything.

The shop ensured me, though that they will take the guitar back and get me a new one if I don't want to keep it, so they have been very cool about it.

Haven't tried steel wool yet.

Then just return it, the shop may cause problem if you clean too rough.

So, I had this guitar replaced, they already sent me a new one, the old one is still here, but I got a UPS return label from them.
Anyway, today I received the replacement guitar, took it out of the case.....and I see the exact same discoloring on the back of the neck. I can't believe this.
Feels like being on one of those prank-TV shows with a hidden camera, only I did not find the camera...LOL.

I know that the distributor check each guitar before sending them to a retailer, there is even a little tag saying this guitar has been checked and approved.?!?!?!
I wonder what kind of quality control is that?!?!

I've sold probably 50 Premium's so far, and I've seen the gamut, but I've never seen that. 2 in a row??

Yup, 2 in a row.
I have had 4 Premiums in my hands so far, each one of them had some kind of issue, not a single one was flawless all the way. Don't get me wrong, I think they are great guitars, but the cosmetic flaws are a downside to these, IMO.

EDIT: I think the ones you sold came with a gig bag not with a case? Because this discoloration is related to the case. Either the color came off from the case OR the guitars were put into the case too soon before the finish could really 'settle in'.
Either way, I wonder what kind of quality control lets a guitar like that pass?!?!?!?!?!
In the factory this was probably not on yet, but when these came to the European distributor, I'm sure the discoloration was already visible.
