NGD!!! Ibanez S5470FRVK

I got this in the mail a couple of days ago, and I finally was able to pull myself away from it long enough to take some (crappy) photos of it. (On a side note, I need to get a tutorial on how to photograph shiny red objects. LOL, stupid light sources, or lack thereof.) I'll try to take some better pics later on in the week. As far as the guitar, I love it! It's so frickin' beautiful. When I first opened up the case, I was speechless for a few minutes just from the Awesomeness emanating from this beast, this Excalibur.

The Flame Maple top has a very 3D look to it. I find myself just staring at it for longer than I'd like to admit. The stock pickups are even tolerable! As far as the neck, it is a little thicker than the old RG770 I have, but the added heft makes the Wizard profile fit my hands better.

Sweet axe!
Take the axe into the sunlight and shoot away
Yep... the neck is definitely a tad "hefty" compared to my RG760 and S540FM... however the profile is closer to the S540.

hopefully you didn't faint from sniffing that "new guitar and case" scent :P

LOL. The new guitar scent smells like rubbing alcohol! Much better than the rotten vag smell of my RG770 in it's case. LOL

HNGD!!!

The thing I liked most about my s5470tks was the case. How's the sustain on it? How is the finish on the back of the neck? The profile of the neck was fine with me, but it was no where near as smooth and finished like the s540 I have.

Re: NGD!!! Ibanez S5470FRVK

The sustain isn't so hot on the unwound strings past the 15th fret. It's similar to my strat. I suspect that the cause of the sustain "issue" it is the small trem block of the ZR. Combine that with the super hot pickups and... you know the rest. I'm actually thinking about constructing my own trem block and seeing if that increases the sustain.

How about you? Judging from your post, it sounds like you returned yours.

Re: NGD!!! Ibanez S5470FRVK

I did. I would have kept it, but I found a '92 black s540 in really good shape for half the price. I had an s540 years ago, so I was leaning that way from the start. I just couldn't find one in really good shape. I wouldn't mind getting another s5470 later on, but you got the best finish/version of it IMO, and I didn't want to spend that extra cash.
