NGD - Orange RG570EX ????

Deal on a PGM fell through so I was a bit bummed & all but still looking for an Ibanez with Sharkfins. Started scouring CL seeing if I might find anything worth while and lo & behold I find a 1990 RG570 at some recording studio in NYC. The guy said he was the original owner and was cleaning out his unused gear. I was getting off work early so I figured what the hell, I could make it there & back before rush hour. It might be worth the trip.

So I get there and the guitar is beyond my expectations. I don't tell him that though because he described it as ugly 80's orange. I Just told him it would be good for parts & that it might do for my needs. Truth is, the thing is beautiful and in fantastic condition. It's been sitting there practically untouched for years. The trem was blocked so the Edge has barely been used. All stock, almost mint & plays like friggin new!! No buckle rash. No pick scratches. A couple minor scuffs from being moved around all those years but otherwise perfect. The guy was in a hurry to leave, he had to go give a lesson, so I actually was able to talk him down & walked out the door with her!

I'm thinking she is an RG570EX but I can't find any info on such a guitar except this thread here: http://www.jemsite.com/forums/showth...ferrerid=19706

Any info would be most welcome. Now all I have to do is to decide what pups to put in her.

Cool dude, I just scored a 570 about a month ago for the same price. Mine is a 91 and it came with a hardshell case. Immaculate condition as well.

Re: NGD - Orange RG570EX ????

Hey thanks!! I wasn't really worried about the case. I have a couple at home & I mostly use gig bags. I've seen plenty of Rg570's out there just none with Shark tooth inlays or in this color orange. The way I see it this is exactly the same as a 1990 RG770 except it has the V1/S1/V2 pups instead of the F2/C2/F4 pups.

I have an F2 laying around I got in a trade that I've never used. Was thinking of putting in in her. Anyone have any opinions on the F2 pup? I've never played one before. How does it sound or compare to? Thx!

Can't say I have ever seen that color...

I believe that would be a 570DX, but Rich would know for sure.

Definitely doesn't show up in any of the printed catalogs, but that doesn't mean anything. There have been all sorts of music store specials that have appeared over the years. Great guitar regardless.

Re: NGD - Orange RG570EX ????

Thanks all!!! I'm stoked & that's the important thing. I tried searching for an orange RG570 with shark tooth inlays and the only thing I could find was a reference to an RG570EX. The pups have no marking best I can tell so I don't even know what they are to be honest. What's the difference between a DX and an EX and how do I identify the pups in her? Where's Rich when you need him?? LOL

This thing is most definitely brite orange. It's the kind of orange the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard was. The only thing missing is the rebel flag & an 01 on the side lol

The F2 compares to the Dimarzio ToneZone I believe, so not a bad pickup at all. The only other difference from an RG770, would be that the 5xx series had black hardware while the 7xx series had cosmo black.
Never seen one in this color! Enjoy!!

Thanks. I just happen to have a TZ laying around as well. I just might have to play around with them both and see how they compare. For the record I prefer black hardware to cosmo anyway so it's all good for me. :-)

Re: NGD - Orange RG570EX ????

damn dude NICE!

FWIW I installed a TZ in my 770 and the tone is just sick! I don't think you'll be disappointed at all with it.

Do all 570's have the 'fins?

I'm a fin freak myself unless it's a maple board. I just don't like a rosewood or ebony board with dots.
