I wonder if the pickguard is original? Never seen a wooden one on that model before. If you WERE to restore it to original, that'd be easy enough with a new guard.

Yup, leave it as is, is exactly what I'm gonna do. From the catalog pics you posted I see that the bridge humbucker isn't original either. Whoever modded this at least made the perfect choice in the pickup department. Don't know what they are, but they're perfect for this guitar.

The wood bezels are pretty hillbilly looking for sure, but as someone else mentioned I'm sure that the neck one is hiding a humbucker sized rout. Getting a replacement pickguard would be a huge no fun zone as well, I'm sure. I'm just gonna be happy with it as it is I guess.

I have six Ibanei at the moment....770DX, Gambale, 540LTD, couple of 550's, and the only one that can hang with this one even a little bit is my 550 with the scalloped board and EVO's. As for the non Ibanez stuff, only the EBMM Axis I have can hang with it.
